It’s not enough to just search for the best grills anymore. You have to take your lifestyle into account. For example, if you go camping or cottaging a lot, you may want to invest in the best camping grill. To this extent, it would be beneficial for you to review Weber’s Q1000 Liquid Propane Grill.

Why We Like It – Weber Q1000

The Weber Q1000 Grill is an easy-to-use and durable portable grill that you can use straight out of the back. The grates come out for easier cleaning, and because it’s a bit on the heftier side it’s more wind resistant. The lid, when closed, also helps the grill to retain heat for faster cooked, better-tasting meat.

Pros
  • Large Enough Cooking Surface
  • Porcelain-Coated Cast Iron Cooking Grates
  • Comes Fully Assembled
Cons
  • BTUs are Okay, But Not That Impressive
  • Only Available in Propane Gas
  • Heavy

Power/Heating

The Weber Q1000 Portable Grill has a single stainless steel burner that has a BTU capacity of 8500. Although this isn’t too bad for a portable gas grill, we’ve definitely seen others that have a lot more juice to them, so it would have been nice if Weber matched them and got this up to at least 10,000 BTU. Size/Versatility

Q1000 Weber Gas Grills boast a fairly impressive cooking area of 189 square inches. The Weber Q1200 boasts a similar-sized cooking surface. You should be able to fit at least four medium-sized steaks on a surface this big without trouble. Where the problem does lie is in the fact that you can’t use it as a charcoal grill, so a propane tank is your only option to cook.

Durability

Q1000 Weber Grills weighs about 26 pounds. That’s not heavy, but it’s not as light as we would like a portable grill to be. If you agree, check out the Weber Smokey Joe Grill review. But other than that it’s smooth sailing. It has heavy-duty aluminum construction which includes a cast aluminum lid for adding durability and heat retention and porcelain-coated cast-iron grates so you can cook for years to come.

Ease of Use

Not only do the high-quality porcelain-coated cast-iron cooking grates aid in durability, but they also make cleanup easier because any residuals just slide right off either by themselves or with a brush. It also comes fully assembled right out of the box so you can get to grilling right away. The side tables are an excellent place to store your cooking utensils and cooking spices too.

Value

The Weber Q1000 is a little on the expensive side for what you’re getting, but that’s because the Weber name is synonymous with quality. The Q1000 also comes with Weber’s five-year warranty which includes the lid, cooker box, and stainless steel burner tubes. Finally, the single button ignition system makes the Q1000 very easy to operate.

Weber Q1000 Wrap Up

The Q1000 is a valiant effort by Weber that just misses the mark in some places. The cooking surface is great, we just wish it had a little more power. The cooking grates are good too, we just wish we had the option to use charcoal over propane for a true camper’s experience.
