When the terms ultra-wide, curved screen, and 4K come to mind, people usually think of monitors with prices of $1000+. The ViewSonic VP3481 offers all this for practically half the price. Featuring a breathtaking color space and refresh rate, the VP3481 more than earns a spot on our list of best curved monitors. Speaking of earning a spot, see which monitors earned spots in our best computer monitors list.

Why We Like It – ViewSonic VP3481

With high color accuracy, higher frame rates, and a curved screen, the ViewSonic VP3481 never fails to impress. Those who want the absolute best can get it for a price that won’t hurt the wallet.

Pros
  • 100hz refresh rate puts it above other monitors
  • Precise, accurate color
  • Freesync allows for smooth gameplay
Cons
  • Large size may prove too bulky for most workstations
  • Buttons for controls feel too clunky

Performance

Coming in at 34 inches, it would be a shame if the ViewSonic VP3481 underperformed. Fortunately, that’s something consumers don’t have to worry about, as ViewSonic put as many resources as possible to ensure that the VP3481 left nothing to be desired. Out of the box the ViewSonic VP3481 can run at 4K resolution, with a 100hz refresh rate. As a cherry on top, the monitor is also FreeSync enabled, meaning games and movies look that much smoother on the display. With an sRGB color rating of 100%, the viewing experience offered by the ViewSonic VP3481 is comparable to the Philips Brilliance 499P9H.

Viewing Angle

Curved monitors usually aren’t the type of monitors one associates with adjustability, The curved screens are usually too big to allow much movement. Typically stands are designed to be stable to accommodate the large curved screen. However, the ViewSonic VP3481 sets itself apart by offering a stand that can adjust its height, swivel, and tilt. Granted, the degree of adjustability is limited by the size of the monitor itself, but it is a nice gesture nonetheless. However, for those who want a more solid stand, the Samsung CHG90 49-Inch Curved Ultrawide Monitor is recommended.

Durability

Understandably the ViewSonic VP3481 is not VESA compatible. A monitor of this size isn’t easy to be mounted, and the provided stand is already durable enough for many not to be concerned about a lack of mount support. However, the stand is tough enough so that customers won’t have to worry about their monitor falling.

Ports/Expandability

The ViewSonic VP3481 comes equipped with two HDMI 2.0 ports, a DisplayPort input, two USB Type C ports, two USB ports, and an audio jack. An impressive port selection, especially considering that the USB C ports can support charging via cable. As USB C is a relatively new development, not that many monitors support it, however, should you feel the need for a monitor with more USB cables, the Samsung C27HG70 is a viable option.

Value

Easily the most valuable part of the ViewSonic VP3481 is its price. The ViewSonic VP3481 matches performance with those priced triple what ViewSonic offers. For being a curved monitor, there are few compromises that detract from the total value of the ViewSonic VP3481.

ViewSonic VP3481 Wrap Up

Curved monitors are a niche not for everyone, however, for those who are interested, the ViewSonic VP3481 is a delightful first choice. With a 34 inch screen, 100hz refresh rate and Freesync capability. The only issue you may have is that you may need a bigger workspace to accommodate the size of this monitor.
