If you’re aiming for the best laptops for Minecraft, you already have every reason to view the MSI GV63 Performance Gaming Laptop NVIDIA RTX 2060. Yes, you read that right: an RTX 2060, the kind that would be running Cyberpunk 2077 right now. Accompanied by an 8th Gen i7, and you’ve got yourself one beefy machine. If you don’t want a laptop specifically for Minecraft, check out our best gaming laptops list.

Why We Like It – MSI GV63

Fitted with a powerful NVIDIA GeForce RTX and an 8th Gen i7, the MSI GV63 is far above what’s needed to run Minecraft, whether it’s at 1080p or 4K (2160p).

Pros
  • Powerful graphics NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060
  • 8th Gen Intel Core i7-8750H
  • 1TB HDD + 256GB SSD
Cons
  • Specs are far above what you need

Performance & Battery

What should you expect from a combination of a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 and Intel Core i7-8750H? For starters, frame rates can and exceed 200. That’s across the board, on ultra settings, and even at 4K. And the cherry on top is the 120Hz refresh rate for added smoothness. The MSI GV63 Laptop NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 is a powerhouse, suffice to say, though still just a step behind the Asus ROG Strix Scar III, but still puts the Huawei MateBook X Pro Gaming Laptop to shame Battery life will last for nearly 6 hours, which is plenty for a single session. Ports, Expandability & Build Quality

Made of mostly plastic, including the red backlit kb win, the MSI GV63 is of fair build quality. But under the red backlit keyboard are 2 fans, 2 exhausts, and 6 copper heat pipes for improved cooling. The screen size is 15.6 inches with thick bezels. There’s a 1TB HDD, plus a 256GB NVMe SSD. Checking out the ports you’ll find an RJ45, two Type-A USB 3.1 Gen 1, and another with PowerShare, one Thunderbolt 3, DisplayPort, HDMI, miniDisplayPort, and an audio jack.

Value

Having a 8th Gen i7 and GeForce NVIDIA RTX 2060 is, if you haven’t guessed, quite the overkill for just playing Minecraft. As much as anyone would love to have the MSI GV63, it’s terribly overpriced if your only intentions are to play Minecraft. You’re better off buying a Lenovo Legion Y530. However, if it’s more than Minecraft, then by all means get the MSI GV63, because it has the power to play a large portion of games.

MSI GV63 Wrap Up

The MSI GV63 is simply too powerful to waste on just Minecraft. Having a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 alone provides access to ray tracing in Minecraft, a strange combination but possible nonetheless. Even the 8th Gen Intel Core i7-8750H is overkill. Still, if you have a large library of PC games, then the MSI GV63 is still worth the investment.
