If you’re looking for the best laptops for WoW, the Dell Inspiron 15 5000 Gaming Laptop isn’t one of them. Instead, this is more of an entry-level laptop for the common person, while still maintaining the ability to enter the world of Azeroth in Classic.

Why We Like It – Dell Inspiron 15 5000 Gaming Laptop

The Dell Inspiron 15 5000 Gaming Laptop makes multitasking and browsing easy with the quad core Intel i7 CPU, while its integrated GPU can dabble with World of Warcraft.

Performance & Battery

Under the hood you’ll find both an Intel UHD 620, Intel Core i7-8550U, and 16GB of RAM. From previous models, the move from an Intel Core i5 to an i7 is a good choice; otherwise you’re best off looking elsewhere. The UHD 620 graphics don’t have video memory, but 16GB of RAM circumvents that. Unfortunately, this setup isn’t going to run the latest expansion. If you drop your resolution down to 720p from full HD, and reduce your graphics settings, you’ll still get to enjoy World of Warcraft Classic. Frame rates hover between 30 to 45, though raiding is an unlikely prospect. A better setup would be the HP Omen X.

Ports, Expandability & Build Quality

For ports you have a small selection: two USB 3.1, and a single USB 2.0, plus one HDMI, audio jack, and an SD card reader. It comes with a beefy 512GB SSD over a mechanical hard drive, though it can be expanded, as can the RAM. Build quality is okay, mainly made of plastic and will easily scratch. It’s a far cry from the impressive quality of the Gigabyte Aorus Laptop.

Value

An Intel Core i7 is a good CPU for browsing, multitasking, and whatnot. With the right GPU, something that isn’t integrated like Intel HD graphics cards, you could run WoW Classic fairly well. Unfortunately, this Dell gaming laptop doesn’t have the chops to play anything other than Classic. If you want to enjoy the latest expansion, pick up the Lenovo Legion Y540. It costs less!

Dell Inspiron 15 5000 Gaming Laptop Wrap Up

The Dell Inspiron 15 5000 Gaming Laptop won’t give you the prettiest picture of Azeroth, and it certainly won’t be running World of Warcraft: Shadowlands. But at least you’ll get to enjoy the classic experience, with some adjustments to your graphical settings, and the CPU is good! You can also count your blessings with a 5-hour battery and 16GB of RAM.
