  • Aluminum frame provides superior heating.
  • Half-moon cooking system enables cooking several items at once
Cons
  • One of the more heavier grills

Power/Heating

Unlike the Primo Grill, which features a cast-iron frame, the Kamado Joe Big Joe comes with an aluminum body. This combined with stainless steel racks, provide a heating experience that is on par with cast iron. The Kontrol tower top vent helps keep heating to where you want it, regardless of how many times you open the grill.

Size/Versatility

Just like the Char-Griller Akorn Kamado, the Kamado Joe Big Joe doesn’t take its name lightly. Both larger and heavier than grills like the Blaze Kamado, it fully takes advantage of it’s cooking space. The half-moon divide and conquer cooking system is able to be used to its fullest potential. With the ability to cook separate portions with different temperatures can make setting up a whole meal done in the matter of minutes.

Ease of Use

Although the Kamado Joe Big Joe may be large and heavy, general use of the grill is a breeze. Mostly due to the air lift hinge mechanism. Having the ability to effortlessly open the lid while cooking ensures you never exhaust yourself while grilling.

Value

The one thing stopping most from purchasing the Kamado Joe Big Joe is the price point. To help ease both the wallet and the mind, think of it like this. Both this grill and the Weber Summit Charcoal grill are priced the same, while also providing the same quality. What you pay for is what you get, especially with a ten year warranty.
