One of the best i3 laptop and the best laptop setups you can buy is this upgraded HP 15.6 by NexiPC. Originally housing only 4GB of RAM & a 128GB SSD, the upgraded laptop now offers 16GB of DDR4 memory and 1TB of storage space for all of your applications & files. As a bonus, this laptop also comes with an authorized NexiGo bundle of accessories.

Why We Like It – HP 15.6 Laptop

In this HP 15.6 Laptop review, we’ll go over this upgraded version of the basic 15.6” HP laptop. Modified by NexiPC, this laptop runs on a Windows 10 operating system, has 16GB of RAM, 1TB of internal storage, and comes with a variety of accessories.

Pros
  • Includes an Authorized NexiGo Bundle
  • Features a Variety of Upgrades
  • Up to 9 Hours of Battery Life
Cons
  • Not Available With An Intel Core i5 Processor
  • Doesn’t have A Touch Screen

Power & Performance

As mentioned above, the basic version of this laptop had only 4GB of RAM & 128GB of internal storage. This upgraded model has 16GB of RAM and an internal capacity of 1TB. The laptop runs off of an Intel Core i3-1005G1 processor, which runs at a base frequency of 1.2 GHz base frequency, but can operate up to 3.4 GHz by using Intel Turbo Boost Technology. The 15.6” display is rated for 45% NTSC, has a resolution of 1366 x 768p, and has a brightness of 220 nits. For a larger display, consider the HP 17.3 laptop review.

Battery

This upgraded HP laptop is powered by a 3-cell, 41 Wh Li-ion battery. This allows the computer to run for up to 9 hours on a single charge. This was actually somewhat disappointing because, with all of the other boosted specs, we were hoping to see a battery life of over twelve hours. Still, the nine-hour battery life should be enough to last throughout the day. The laptop has HP Fast Charge technology, which allows it to charge up to 50% in only 45 minutes.

Ports & Expandability

Port options on this device are fairly lackluster. It has a single USB-C port, two USB 3.1 ports, a 3.5mm audio port, and a single HDMI port. You can use the trackpad on the laptop, but NexiPC includes a 2.4GHz Wireless Mouse along with the laptop (although you will need to provide a AA battery for the mouse). While the connection options aren’t great, we were pretty happy with the upgraded internal storage (which went from a mere 128GB to a full 1TB).

Build Quality

This laptop has a fairly standard build for an HP laptop. The 15.6” screen(which has a resolution of 1366 x 768 and is rated for 220 nits) has thin bezels on the side, but the top and bottom bezels are fairly thick (for thinner bezels check out our ASUS VivoBook 15 review). The laptop itself is silver all-around with outer dimensions of 14.11” by 9.53”, and fairly thin at only 0.71” when closed. You shouldn’t have any trouble transporting this device since it only weighs 3.75 lbs, and is fairly compact.

Value

The overall value of this laptop and accessory bundle is very good. The upgraded hardware adds a lot to what began as a basic laptop, and the included wireless mouse is perfect for users who abhor trackpads. There isn’t a lot of information available about this model, but it scores a 4.3 out of 5-stars based on 18 Amazon ratings. So far most users seem happy with their purchase. Sadly, the lack of additional USB ports counts against this computer, because you will have to purchase a USB splitter if you intend to connect 3 or more devices.

HP 15.6 Laptop Wrap Up

Complete with an Intel UHD Graphics GPU, 1TB of internal storage, and 16GB of RAM, this upgraded laptop will be perfect no matter if you plan on gaming or simply using it for work (if you prefer a stock computer take a look at our Lenovo IdeaPad S340 review). While we would have liked to see more connection options, overall we think this laptop is a great buy for most people.
