What could possibly be the best laptop for students for its versatile compatibility in terms of app support, the Google Pixelbook Go is a chromebook that has features that can install and run Android apps, has the same USB ports as a Macbook Pro, and uses the Chrome OS. It’s essentially a Samsung Chromebook Pro hybrid.

Why We Like It – The Google Pixelbook

The Google Pixelbook has features such as Google Assistant and the Pixelbook Pen as features that can cater to digital artists and people who want (or need) virtual assistance via artificial intelligence. It also has Android app support to add more options to the apps that users can download.

Power/Performance

Buyers have a choice to buy a laptop that contains either the Intel Core m3 processor or the Intel Core i5 processor, making the laptop have slower processors than the Dell XPS 13 7390, having an Intel Core I7 processor. However, both processors still offer decent performances and different processing speeds, with the i5 processor being the faster one. Also, instead of using a traditional hard drive for storage, it possesses a solid state drive to not only make file transfers faster, but also makes the computer more quiet when processing a task.

Battery

Similarly to the Apple Macbook Air, this laptop has a great battery life. It’s able to operate for up to 12 hours before it needs to be recharged. The combination of having good enough processing speed and RAM capacity is part of why both laptops are able to utilize their resources in ways that save their battery power without the need for the user to adjust their settings.

Ports/expandability

While the Dell Latitude 7490’s array of ports has HDMI, usb a and c, headphone/microphone, Ethernet, and more, the Pixelbook’s assortment of ports consists of only usb c ports and a headphone jack. However, for what the pixelbook lacks in variety, it makes up for in speed and compatibility. It provides a wide range of wi fi connection compatibility as it can use the 802.11a/b/g/n/ac standards, while the Dell Latitude only has the 802.11g standard.

Build quality

This laptop’s noticeably slimmer than the Dell G5 15 5590 despite both having solid state drives. Some people may think that this look indicates that the laptop is flimsy, but it’s actually the opposite. The hardware components are closely soldered together to have a much lower chance of loosened parts and risking them travelling within the laptop’s chassis. There’s also customer reviews that indicate that, despite only weighing 2.33 Lbs., it’s more durable than it looks.

Value

Unfortunately, to make the overall pricing cheaper without sacrificing the benefits of having a solid state drive, the computer has less storage space than it could have if it had a traditional hard drive. While both processors that the pixelbook can be installed aren’t the newest processors available, they can still provide decent performances. However, the laptops with the m3 processors are significantly cheaper than the laptops with i5 processors.

The Google Pixelbook Wrap Up

Many reviews have praised it, stating that while it’s not a Macbook Pro, it’s a great alternative to the point that some would call it the best Chromebook. One reviewer noted that it provides a high end experience, and another reviewer said that it feels like a solidly constructed and durable laptop.
