The George Foreman Grill is synonymous with the term best grills. So if you’re looking for the best indoor grills, you would do well to give the George Foreman 4 a large amount of consideration. It’s easy to clean thanks to the dishwasher-safe removable plates, and the George Tough Nonstick Coating is second to none when it comes to durability.

Why We Like It – George Foreman 4

The George Foreman 4 would be a welcome addition to any kitchen, whether it be used by a single person or a family of four. It has enough cooking space to feed at least four, and you can have delicious-tasting meat no more than 10 minutes after you plug the grill in!

Pros
  • Dishwasher Safe Removable Plates
  • Metal Body
  • Highly Durable George Tough Nonstick Coating
Cons
  • Grilling Surface is Average
  • No Temperature Control

Power/Heating

The George Foreman 4-Serving removable plate electric indoor grill is a powerful frill that lets you go from turning it on to eating a delicious meal in less than ten minutes. Customer reviews on Amazon are largely positive about how the unit also takes two minutes to fully heat up too. If this is your first time using a George Foreman Grill, you’ll be pleasantly surprised. Check out the Secura GR-1503XL for another similarly powerful grill.

Size/Versatility

The cooking surface on the George Foreman electric grill is a respectable 60 square inches. This should be more than enough to grill up medium-sized burgers or chicken breasts for a hungry family of four, and you don’t need a separate, fine burger press since it’s already built-in. Of course, this isn’t the biggest grilling surface we’ve seen. If you want bigger, make sure you check out the Hamilton Beach Electric Indoor Searing Grill.

Durability

The George Foreman 4 weighs a measly 6.5 pounds. Again, while this isn’t the lightest we’ve seen, it’s still very lightweight, portable, and non-invasive. It weighs about the same as the Zojirushi Indoor. The body is made out of metal instead of plastic or aluminum too! A surprise considering how inexpensive the grill is, but a very welcome surprise nonetheless.

Ease of Use

The George Tough Non-Stick coating is three times more durable, easy to clean, and eliminates the need for butter or oil to grease up the surface. The removable grill plates make for an easier time cleaning, and if you have one, are also dishwasher safe. It’s a plug-in and heat-up grill, so there won’t be any temperature control. You’ll have to decide whether that’s good or bad. If it’s bad, then you’ll want to take a look at our Char-Broil electric grill review.

Value

The grill slope is a Geroge Foreman exclusive design that helps to remove up to 42% of fat for lean, mean, and tasty meat. The drip tray at the bottom of the machine collects the extra fat and grease and, like the grill plates, is dishwasher safe. All in all, this machine is a steal for something under $40.00. The only downside is that it only comes in silver, but that’s the least of our concerns.

George Foreman 4 Wrap Up

I can understand why a highly-experienced griller would be turned off by the lack of temperature control. But for those of us who just need something to sear the meat quickly so we can eat can appreciate this minimalistic approach to meat cooking. And considering its low price there’s an even higher incentive to buy.
