For an awesomely long gaming monitor with an immersive curved screen, the AOC AG493UCX is definitely a good pick for the best HDR monitor and one of the best computer monitors. It’s perfect for professional gamers, or folks who are serious about their gaming experience.

Why We Like It – AOC AG493UCX

The AOC AG49CUCX has an ultra wide curved screen that’s like having a 3-monitor setup in just one. We love its built-in KVM switch that lets you switch between your gaming and work computers without messing with cables.

Pros
  • Immersive curved monitor
  • KVM switch built-in (switch between two different PCs with just one monitor)
  • Low blue light prevents eye fatigue
Cons
  • Wide aspect ratio that shows black bars on some consoles
  • AOC customer support is hard to contact
  • Amazon users noted issues with screen flickering

Performance

Similar to the AOC Agon AG273QCX, the AOC AGON AG493UCX has a 1ms response time with AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, which synchronizes your frame rate to your GPU to eliminate stutter. This monitor runs a wide color gamut, with VESA DisplayHDR 400 to provide more realistic picture quality and deeper black levels. Plus, it has a low blue light mode that’s perfect for long gaming sessions without eye fatigue. While it doesn’t have as high of a refresh rate as the ASUS TUF Gaming VG259QM, the AOC monitor still supports up to 120hz, for super smooth gameplay with little input lag.

Viewing Angle

Curved monitors typically have a wider viewing angle, and this AOC monitor is no different, supporting viewing angles of up to 178 degrees. It maintains color quality even if you’re playing at a weird angle. Curved monitors also provide a more immersive gaming experience, with action in your peripherals and in front of you.

Durability

The AOC AGON has a durable metal alloy stand that’s pretty solid. The screen is height-adjustable so you can get a comfy ergonomic setup.

Ports/Expandability

The AOC monitor has 2 HDMI ports, 2 USB ports, and a display port that allows you to be flexible with your connections. It also has a headphone jack so you won’t disturb your roommates. The USB C docking port is perfect for drawing power, display, and network all in one table, so your desktop won’t be a clutter of cables.

Value

This AOC monitor is fairly expensive compared to others on the market, especially the Acer CB282K. While the curved 49-inch screen is like having two curved monitors side-by-side, the 120hz refresh rate and specs are a bit lower comparatively. You won’t need to buy a second or third gaming monitor, however, and the price might be worth it for that alone. The monitor does come with a display port, USB, and HDMI cable in the box.

AOC AG493UCX Wrap Up

The AOC AGON monitor is fantastic if you’re looking for 3 gaming monitors in one. The curved screen is immersive, and is perfect for wide viewing angles. You’ll love the frame rate optimization and the 1ms response time. While the curved monitor is definitely interesting, if you’re looking for a more traditional flatscreen gaming monitor, you should check out the BenQ EW3270U.
