For an awesomely immersive curved screen, look no further than the ASUS XG43VQ gaming monitor is definitely one of the best HDR monitors and perhaps one of the best computer monitors on the market. It’s perfect not only for professional gamers, but also for people who are serious about their gaming experience.

Why We Like It – ASUS XG43VQ

The ASUS XG43VQ is a super ultra wide HDR gaming monitor that’s like having a 2-monitor setup in just one. We love ASUS’s shadow boost technology that makes darker areas more crisp, making it easier to find enemies in the shadows.

Pros
  • Immersive curved monitor
  • Preset hotkeys to adjust video sources
  • Cable management system
Cons
  • LED backlight bleed
  • No built-in speakers
  • Not all game support ultrawide monitors, leading to black bars

Performance

The ASUS ROG Strix XG43VQ offers high dynamic range HDR technology that brings you fantastic picture quality in a super ultra wide display. ASUS Ultra Low Blue Light technology plus an anti-glare screen eliminates eye strain, perfect for long gaming sessions; flicker free tech helps as well. The Radeon FreeSync premium technology delivers a 1ms response time for lower latency, buttery smooth graphics, and incredible brightness and contrast. Plus, it has multiple HDR modes that supports whatever you’re working on, from gaming to creating content to watching videos. While it doesn’t have as high of a refresh rate as the ASUS TUF Gaming VG259QM, the ASUS XG43VQ monitor still supports up to 120hz, for super smooth gameplay with little input lag.

Viewing Angle

Curved monitors like this ASUS typically have a wider viewing angle, and make first person shooters and action games way more fun with gameplay in your peripherals. The super ultrawide monitor means you’ll be able to perfectly see gameplay even if you’re sitting at a weird angle.

Durability

The ASUS XG43VQ has swivel, tilt, and height adjustments so you can get a comfy, ergonomic setup. However, many Amazon reviewers note that the materials that make up the monitor aren’t up to typical ASUS quality. The monitor stand is a bit too large for many desktop setups.

Ports/Expandability

The ASUS ROG Strix XG43VQ features 2 USB ports, an HDMI port, and a display port. Plus, it has a headphone jack for quietly gaming without disturbing your housemates.

Value

At $719, this superwide monitor is decently cheaper than others on the market, but isn’t as affordable as the Acer CB282K. While the 43-inch screen is like having two curved monitors side-by-side, the 120hz refresh rate is a bit lower than other flatscreen gaming monitors. The preset hotkeys and shadow boost technology definitely up the value.

ASUS XG43VQ Wrap Up

The ASUS ROG Strix XG43VQ gaming monitor is fantastic if you’re looking for 2 gaming monitors in one. The curved screen is immersive, and is perfect for wide viewing angles. And you’ll love the hotkey presets, and the ultra low blue light that helps you game longer without any eye strain. While the curved monitor is certainly cool, if you’re looking for a simpler flatscreen gaming monitor, you should check out the BenQ EW3270U.
