Razor Ecosmart Metro Build Quality And Design
The Razor Eco Smart Metro is a lightweight and fun electric sit down scooter for teens and adults with a spacious bamboo deck, as well as an adjustable handlebar and padded seat. Both rake and seat detachable. That bamboo deck really looks great. I don’t think I’ve seen another scooter with bamboo deck before.
The 36 volt sealed lead acid rechargeable battery system is complemented by a 500w electric motor. I really enjoyed testing this electric scooter. I was impressed by not only the style and performance, but also the build quality.
The powder coated steel frame is not only durable, but actually looks pretty decent too. This is one of the cooler looking electric scooters out there in my opinion. The Razor Eco Smart Metro weighs about 67 lbs, which isn’t bad at all for this kind of scooter.
It has a maximum rider weight of about 220lbs. So teens and adults up to that rider’s weight can tool around town on this stylish ride. In fact, it recommended for ages 16 and up. Don’t get upset! You can also buy something stylish for your kids as well!
One of the nicest features for your commute is the detachable luggage rack and basket that are included. The rack and basket are great for holding your briefcase, backpack or some groceries. The retractable kick stand makes it easy to park it just about anywhere and keep it upright. Combine these features with the padded seat adjustable handlebar rake, and you have a very versatile vehicle.

How Powerful Is The Razor Eco Smart Metro?
This electric scooter packs in a powerful 500w high-torque, chain-driven motor under the deck with a 36 volt electric system, making this a quiet and powerful vehicle for short trips or medium commutes. That extra high torque motor will whisk you around town, to work, or around the college campus.
This model features variable speed throttle control thanks to twist-grip acceleration, allowing you to always set the perfect speed with a turn of the wrist. The throttle control is very comfortable to use.
This adult electric scooter has a maximum speed of 18 miles per hour, so you’ll be happy to know that it has a reliable braking system. I found the performance to be top-notch. This scooter is a smooth ride from start to finish. You won’t find many electric scooters with 16-inch spoked wheels, and these pneumatic tube tires make the ride nice and comfortable. That’s standard bicycle size.
In my tests, they performed well of various kinds of terrain. There are no front brakes, but it does have hand operated rear disc braking that is very responsive even at tops speeds. Just don’t brake too hard when going fast, of course. The rear disc braking system is sensitive enough for both sudden stops and slow stops.
Charging Time
One thing that I didn’t like about the Ecosmart Metro scooter was the long charge time. This scooter offers a battery life of up to 40 minutes of continuous use per single charge, but the lithium-ion battery takes a very long charge. According to Razor, it should be charged for a minimum of 12 hours before the first use, and for 12 hours after every use.
Having said that, it’s still totally worth it if you use this scooter for short commutes. Just make sure that you charge it daily. With the kind of electric power this scooter has, I just would have preferred better charge times. Then again, this is not a 1000w electric scooter, so it isn’t a deal-breaker.
Bottom Line and Ecosmart Metro Scooter Wrap Up
As the name implies, this is a pretty amazing eco-friendly vehicle with zero emissions. It’s also a lot of fun to ride. So you forget about electric skateboards and your old kick scooter. This is where it’s at. Between the bamboo deck and powder coated frame, comfortable padded seat, 16inch pneumatic tube tires on spoke rims, adjustable handlebars and hand-operated brakes, the Razor Ecosmart Metro Electric Scooter is a great little electric scooter.
It’s fast and efficient for anyone on the go for short to medium distances. This is an awesome seat detachable luggage carrying speedster. A great riding experience. It’s worth mentioning that the battery is located under the deck, which has not been a problem, but it seems like a questionable place to house it.
Before I got on the Razor Ecosmart electric scooter, I wasn’t sure what to think about the Razor Eco Smart Metro, but I am now a big fan. This is a prime example of a scooter that Razor put a lot of thought into. I would have to call it one of their best scooters for kids and adults. Pull up any Ecosmart Metro video on YouTube, and you’ll be instantly impressed. And I know you are going to love that luggage rackrear fender as much as I did.
And if you need more room to hold some extra gear, just detach the ultra padded seat adjustable handlebar, and you are good to go. This is a Razor scooter that older kids can enjoy, but I think this is an even better scooter for adults and a great electric bike alternative.
