Razor scooters travel at an impressive 12 MPH, which will get you where you need to go quickly and safely. The 8” pneumatic tires protect you from falling in case you hit a small rock or a bump, as does the rear braking system. The biggest drawback, however, is the ungodly 12-hour charge time. If it wasn’t for this, the scooter could have been named the best electric scooter for adults, street legal. But it’s good to know that it still competes with the best-selling electric scooters!

Why We Like It – Razor E200 Electric Commuter Scooter

The Razor E200 Electric Commuter Scooter features a rechargeable, sealed lead acid battery that won’t leak and cause damage to the bike or those around you. The chain-driven motor provides an absolutely fun and safe experience for young riders, and the 154 pound weight limit means it’s a great toy for pre-teens and teens alike.

Pros
  • 12 MPH
  • 8” Pneumatic Tires
  • All-Steel Frame
Cons
  • 12 Hour Charge Time, same as the Razor E300 Electric Scooter

Performance

Razor E200 Electric Scooters boasts a chain driven motor which will excite older riders with its thrills and excitement. It boasts a maximum speed of 12 MPH thanks to the high performance, 200 watt motor and the twist grip acceleration control. This is both fast enough to get where you need to go, but still slow enough for it to be a safe toy for anyone 13 and up. But if you would like something faster, try the Glion Dolly Foldable Lightweight Adult Electric Scooter. And for a more affordable model, you need to read our Razor E100 electric scooter for commuters review to decide.

Safety

The Razor Scooter comes equipped with a rear brake to prevent you or your child from flipping over the handlebars and falling face first on the pavement when you brake. The spring-loaded kickstand prevents the scooter from falling and getting damaged or falling and hurting some else. Finally, it boasts 8” Pneumatic tires for a smooth and comfortable ride without the worry of a rock causing you to lose balance. You can also check out the Razor Ecosmart Metro Electric Scooter for even bigger tires if you need them.

Battery Life

The scooter comes with a battery charger for the sealed lead acid battery. Unfortunately, the charge time on the scooter is outrageous, clocking in at 12 hours. It’s hard to justify this kind of charge time, especially since this is also at least 4 hours beyond even an overnight charge. You would actually have to charge the scooter for a full day before you could use it the next. And it seems this is a problem with all Razor scooters, as the Razor E300S Seated Electric Scooter takes 12 hours to charge too.

Durability

The scooter holds a maximum weight limit of 154 pounds. And while I understand that yes, some adults may be able to use this scooter, a lot of others won’t be able to or will just barely make the mark. Thus, it can be one of the best electric scooters for pre-teens and teenagers instead of adults. But adults can check out the Segway Ninebot if they’re looking for a more durable scooter.

Value

Customer reviews for the Razor E200 are largely positive over on Amazon, with an average rating of 4.5.5 stars based on over 400 reviews. Featuring an all-steel frame, it’s also built pretty solid. It makes you wonder why the max weight is only 154 pounds and not higher. Perhaps they are going for safety over actual numbers?

Razor E200 Electric Commuter Scooter Wrap Up

Like I mentioned before, the biggest drawback to the scooter is the 12-hour charge time. And to only get about 8 miles, or 40 minutes, of ride out of a full-charge is definitely holding the scooter back. Still, if it is meant for teens, maybe the ability to not scoot around for hours on end with a quick charging scooter is a positive instead of a negative.
