There’s a laptop out there for everyone these days: gamers, students, business people, etc. all have their pick of the features they need out of a portable computer. For many, the Lenovo Yoga C930 certainly ticks off all the boxes of an excellent laptop experience. While not among our top picks for the best 2 in 1 laptops and the best laptop, the Yoga C930 is a fine choice for students and workers on the go.

Why We Like It – Lenovo Yoga C930

2 in 1 laptops offer a lot in terms of portability and versatility, and the Lenovo Yoga C930 has plenty of inclusions that make it extremely portable and versatile. With extra-long battery life, included active pen, and Dolby Atmos sound bar integrated right into the watchband hinge, this convertible laptop is great for on-the-go students and workers.

Pros
  • Includes Lenovo active pen with integrated storage and charging
  • 360° hinge doubles as a powerful Dolby Atmos sound bar
  • Super long battery life
Cons
  • No SD-card reader

Power/Performance

The Lenovo Yoga C930 packs a lot of power into its less-than-three-pound body, including a full HD display with Dolby Vision, a Dolby Atmos sound bar, and an Intel Core i7 processor. There is also a less-expensive version of this laptop available with an Intel Core i5 processor if you don’t need the higher clock speeds of the i7. While this laptop doesn’t boast the 4k display of the follow-up Lenovo Yoga C940, many a Lenovo Yoga C930 review cites the full HD display as a highlight of the system. The integrated sound bar in the watchband hinge is another highlight for many, as some reviewers claim this is the best sounding laptop they’ve owned. Whether it’s in laptop mode or tablet mode, the Lenovo Yoga C930 has ultra high-quality visuals and sound.

Battery

Lenovo claims the Yoga C930 can last up to 12 hours on a single charge, and reviewers back up this claim. There are even some reviewers that claim their review unit of the Lenovo Yoga C930 lasted longer than 15 hours. Of course, battery life is highly dependent on how you use your laptop, but many found they could use this 2 in 1 for a whole day before requiring a recharge. By comparison, the Dell XPS 13 9365 can only last about 8.5 hours. Be sure to check out the Lenovo Yoga C940 review, too, for a thin laptop with a great battery life.

Ports/Expandability

One common complaint about the Lenovo Yoga C930 is its lack of an SD card reader, though many users probably don’t have much need for one on a laptop like this. Others complain about the lack of a CD drive, but that is fairly common on lightweight 2 in 1’s like this. The ports that are available include 2 USB-C Thunderbolt ports, 1 USB 3.1 port, and an audio combo jack. Though some reviews cite the lack of more ports as a source of contention, this laptop is clearly meant for travel and thus shouldn’t be weighed down by an unnecessary plethora of cords or wires. If that’s something you need, you’ll probably want a full laptop over a slimmer 2 in 1.

Build Quality

The Lenovo Yoga C930 looks and feels superb. Travelers will be especially happy with how light this laptop is, coming in at just three pounds, which is a full pound lighter than the Dell XPS 15 2 in 1 laptop. The iron-gray body feels sturdy, as does the watchband hinge and the four available ports. The screen will wobble a bit when using the touchscreen in laptop mode, though not much. On the bottom of the Yoga C930 are rubber feet which keep the unit from slipping around on your desk, which the aluminum body would likely do without them. The active pen included with this laptop has a charger “garage” that is quite nice as well: you won’t be losing the pen anytime soon. Some reviewers did find it was a little difficult to get the pen out of the garage, though, so keep that in mind. You may also want to take a look at the Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 11E review for a laptop that comes with 360-degree hinge.

Value

There’s a lot to like about the Lenovo Yoga C930, but only if the price is right. It’s sleek, sturdy, fast, and performs well to boot; however, we recommend the newer and equally priced Lenovo Yoga C940 as it improves on an already great system. Even so, students, workers, and casual laptop users will be more than happy with the full HD screen, Dolby Atmos sound bar, and Intel Core i7 processor.

Lenovo Yoga C930 Wrap Up

The Lenovo Yoga C930 is a fantastic 2 in 1 laptop that offers a lot in a sleek and slim package. The extensive battery life is incredibly nice, as are the additions Lenovo made to this model. It’s super helpful to store the active pen within the laptop itself, and the sound bar provides some of the best sound available on a laptop. While it would be nice to have an SD card reader here, it probably won’t be a dealbreaker for most buyers. Overall, this is a great 2 in 1 laptop that satisfies many users needs.
