As one of the best netbook and the best laptop options currently available on the market, the Dell Inspiron 11 3162 offers modest specs in a lightweight, Bali Blue shell. This netbook works on both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz wi fi networks, meaning you’ll be able to access all of the network options available as you travel. It offers enough battery life to last a full day, and even includes Bluetooth 4.0!

Why We Like It – Dell Inspiron 11 3162 Specs

The Dell Inspiron 11 3162 Specs is the perfect companion for light-users on the go who prefer flash games, streaming Youtube, and creating word documents over more processor-intensive tasks.

Power & Performance

The 3162 has adequate specs for its intended use, which is mainly web browsing and word processing. The Inspiron 11 is powered by an Intel Celeron n3050 processor that runs between 1.6 GHz and 2.48 GHz. Visual performance is provided by Intel HD Graphics, which handles basic tasks with ease. Unfortunately, the Inspiron 11 is lacking in RAM, with only 4 GB of non-upgradable DDR3L RAM available. Check out our HP Spectre x360 13 8th gen review for a device with 4 times the RAM!

Battery

Inside the Dell Inspiron 11 3162 is a 32 WHr, 2-cell battery. Dell claims the battery will last for up to 9.5 hours, but some users report only getting between 6 and 7.5 hours of battery life before needing to recharge. Still, if you plug the computer in during your lunch break, it should last you the whole day at work (unless battery life isn’t a concern for you, in which case check out our Lenovo 300e review!). We think the 32 WHr battery could be improved on, but it should be adequate for most users.

Ports & Expandability

Connection options on this device are adequate, but it would have been nice if we got one more USB port. The Inspiron has one USB 2.0 port, one USB 3.0 port, an HDMI port, a Micro SD card slot, and a 3.5mm audio jack. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have a USB-C port (read our HP Chromebook 14 review if you’re looking for a device with a USB-C port!). Internally, this netbook only has 32 of eMMC storage, so you will definitely be using either the microSD card slot or a USB port if you plan on storing a lot of files.

Build Quality

This laptop is encased entirely in plastic, so we don’t recommend it for use by young children as they might drop it. Visually though, the casing is very appealing with bright blue coloring, modern styling, and measures less than ¾ of an inch thick when closed. The bezels around the anti-glare TN screen are black, which looks decent and matches the keyboard. The screen itself is only capable of displaying HD graphics because the low resolution of 1366 x 768p prevents it from accurately rendering 1080p.

Value

If you want your very own Dell Inspiron 11 3162, be prepared to pay $380 or more for the netbook. Specific prices vary per vendor, as do the shipping options, which may or may not be free. You do get a warranty with the device, but we were unable to find any specific information about it. Fortunately, it’s also covered by Amazon’s “dead on arrival” policy, which offers a full refund on the product and should alleviate any doubts you may have about purchasing it.

Dell Inspiron 11 3162 Specs Wrap Up

Overall, the Dell Inspiron 11 3162 Specs is a solid notebook. While it definitely can’t offer a stellar gaming experience or meet the demands of power-intensive tasks, it was never intended to. When used for its intended purposes, this Inspiron notebook provides adequate performance at a reasonable price, so we strongly recommend it if you’re on the hunt for a cheap netbook you can easily take to work with you.
