Our #1 choice for the best HDR gaming monitor is the EW3270U by BenQ. This 32” gaming monitor has a 31.5” 4K display, HDR10, AMD FreeSync, and protective Eye Care technology to help reduce strain on your eyes during long gaming sessions (another solid 32” TV is the ViewSonic XG3220). Speaking of choice, find out which monitors made it into our best computer monitors list.

Why We Like It – BenQ EW3270U PS4 Pro

The BenQ EW3270U PS4 Pro is a 32-inch monitor that’s perfect for console gaming (like on the Xbox One X or the PS4 Pro). It offers 4K image quality with HDR support, as well as Eye Care technology to reduce strain on your eyes during long gaming marathons.

Pros
  • 3840×2160 UHD Display
  • Brightness Intelligence Plus
  • USB-C, HDMI 2.0, & DirectPort Inputs
Cons
  • Low Refresh Rate

Performance

The EW3270U offers a high level of performance thanks to a combination of various technologies. Although it has a low refresh rate of 60Hz, this is compensated for by AMD FreeSync, provides a smooth gaming experience (if you’re unsure if you’ll need a higher refresh rate, check out our BenQ 35 LED Curved EX3501R review for a monitor with a refresh rate of 100Hz!). The EW3270U monitor provides a 4K display with BenQ’s Opt-Clarity, an HDR feature that increases the color, brightness, and contrast of your TV.

Viewing Angle

Even though this TV uses a VA panel, it has semi-decent display angles compared to the usual poor viewing angles of other VA panels (IPS panels usually have the best viewing angles, so you might want to check out the Philips 436M6VBPAB). You can expect a color washout at 48°-52°, brightness loss at 46°-51°, and black level rise between 21°- 24° horizontally. Vertically, this monitor has color washout at 35°, brightness loss at 34°-35°, and black level rise at 44°-46°. While these numbers aren’t impressive, they are at least better than many other VA panels.

Durability

This monitor (weighing 13-lbs. by itself), comes with a plastic stand (weighing an additional 2.9-lbs.) that supports the monitor fairly well with minimal wobble. This flat TV has thin bezels on three sides, but the bottom is fairly thick compared to the others. The plastic back on the monitor, while plain, should be sturdy enough for regular use. Unfortunately, there are no cable management options and the stand only tilts, so you can’t adjust the height or swivel the screen. Thankfully, you can easily solve this problem using a VESA 100×100 wall mount.

Alternatively, for an even lighter monitor, you’ll want to read our review on the Pixio FreeSync and certified productivity warranty.

Ports & Expandability

While you’ll only find two HDMI 2.0 ports on this TV, it does include a DirectPort to somewhat make up for the lack of HDMI inputs. Still, if you use a lot of different devices, you’ll probably want to invest in an HDMI switch. There are no DVI, VGA, or standard USB ports, but the EW3270U does have one USB C port that can be used as a video input (although it doesn’t supply the power needed to charge your devices). Opting to exclude a digital audio output, this TV has only a standard 3.5mm headphone jack.

That said, don’t settle for just a few ports. Check out the Asus ProArt PA329Q, which has more ports than you know what to do with.

Value

It costs $888 to get yourself one of these TVs. Scoring 4.7 out of 5-stars on Amazon (based on 6,889 reviews), we think it’s safe to say that this TV is a worthwhile investment. BenQ doesn’t offer a specified warranty for this product, but you are covered for a 100% refund by Amazon for the first 30 days. Returns don’t appear to be free, but free shipping does seem to be available from various sellers (supported by Amazon Prime shipping).

BenQ EW3270U PS4 Pro Wrap Up

The BenQ EW3270U PS4 Pro is a great, smaller monitor for most gamers. The 4K display, AMD FreeSync, and low response time work well for gaming, although a higher refresh rate would have been nice. Still, this monitor delivers good performance on an excellent 4K display, so based on the specs and customer reviews, we think it’s a good purchase to consider for your gaming room.
