If you’re looking for the best HDR gaming monitor you’ll probably want a TV with HDR, a 4K display, and low input lag. The XG3320 meets all of these expectations on its 32” MVA display, offering AMD FreeSync technology, ColorX gaming mode, and even a 22-level black stabilization feature to help you find your enemies in the dark! And if you want monitors that meet your expectations for work or play, check out our list of the best computer monitors.

Why We Like It – ViewSonic XG3220

The ViewSonic XG3220 is a 32” dedicated gaming monitor that uses AMD FreeSync technology to provide a smooth frame rate for a superior gaming experience on its 4K ultra-high-definition MVA panel.

Pros
  • 22-Level Customizable Black Stabilization
  • Improved Contrast Ratio Thanks To HDR 10
  • Has AMD FreeSync
Cons
  • Lower Refresh Rate Than Other Gaming Monitors
  • Poor Viewing Angles

Performance

This monitor combines AMD FreeSync technology, ColorX Gaming Mode, and HDR 10 to provide a dynamic display with crystal clear images & a low response time (another monitor with FreeSync is the BenQ EW3270U PS4 Pro). While the 60Hz display isn’t as fast as some other models, the inclusion of FreeSync is more than enough to overcome this shortcoming. You won’t have any trouble seeing enemies in dark gaming scenes thanks to the XG3220’s 22-Level Black Stabilization, which will look even better if you’re gaming in HDR thanks to the inclusion of HDR10 technology.

Viewing Angle

Since this TV uses an MVA (multi-domain vertical alignment) panel it doesn’t have the wide viewing angle of an IPS panel, and it doesn’t have any upgraded viewing angles like you might find on some higher-end Samsung VA panels (if you prefer something with a wider viewing angle, check out our BenQ 35 LED Curved EX3501R review!). This TV is flat, not curved, so it won’t provide an immersive experience, but at least it will be easy to angle, thanks to its adjustable multi-directional stand.

Durability

The XG3220 is an 18.2-pound TV-stand combo with a decent design. The monitor itself looks fairly minimalistic, with 0.5″ bezels and a relatively plain look consisting primarily of matte black. It has two internal speakers, which are 5-watts each and receive poor reviews all-around (so you’ll definitely want to look into a soundbar!). Do you prefer to game without stand setups on your desk? Simply wall-mount this TV using a 100mm x 100mm mount! However, the TV does come with a fully adjustable stand which can be adjusted by height, pivot, swivel, and tilt if you prefer that instead.

Adjusting this monitor to fit your needs is perfect, but does it outmatch the value of 2 monitors for the price of one? You decide, after reading our review of the ViewSonic 1080p monitor.

Ports & Expandability

You’ll find two HDMI 2.0 ports, one DisplayPort, and five USB 3.0 ports on this TV (it even comes with a USB 3.0 cord & a DisplayPort cable!). There’s no digital audio output, but it does have a standard 3.5mm headphone jack which makes it easy to connect to most devices. If you prefer to use Bluetooth speakers, you can plug an adapter into the jack to use Bluetooth devices with this TV. Unfortunately, this device doesn’t support HDMI ARC.

Value

At under $450 & offering both a 4K display and AMD FreeSync technology, the 32″ ViewSonic XG3220 offers a decent bang for your buck (if you’re looking for a larger screen, check out the 43” Philips 436M6VBPAB TV). You can get free delivery (or returns) for free through Amazon, and they also offer both 3-year ($57.99) and 4-year ($76.00) protection plans. ViewSonic offers a limited warranty on this device for an unspecified amount of time ranging from 1-3 years dependent on your country, which is valid for the original purchaser only.

ViewSonic XG3220 Wrap Up

Although the ViewSonic XG3220 isn’t the biggest monitor around and has a surprisingly low refresh rate at 60Hz, it nonetheless offers enough performance to be an effective gaming monitor perfect for setups where space is an issue. For less than $450 you get the 32” 4K display, an adjustable stand, one USB 3.0 cord, and an HDMI cord, making this a great little bundle perfect for the average gamer.
