You don’t have to look far for the best gaming monitor for PS4, and perhaps this AOC G2460PF review will add yet another choice to your list. Even in this day and age, full HD 1080p still has plenty of reasons to fight. Response time and smoother transition between frames is where it’s at. If you want a less expensive monitor, you may want to read our LG Flatron E2350V review too. However, to combat screen tearing and stuttering, it uses AMD FreeSync to pick up any slack. If you don’t want a gaming monitor specifically, take a look at our HP EliteDisplay E 27i review for a more general monitor. Or, take a look at the best computer monitors if you want only the best.

Why We Like It – AOC G2460PF

The AOC G2460PF is all about speed and performance rather than graphical fidentility. It accomplishes by providing an impressive high refresh rate, really fast response time, and low input lag. What this amounts to is a smooth-as-butter gaming experience. If you want a monitor with 3D capability take a look at our HP 2311gt 3D LED monitor review.

Pros
  • AMD FreeSync reduces screen tearing
  • 144Hz refresh rate
  • 1ms response time
Cons
  • Poor viewing angles
  • Better options at this price range

Performance

At the expense of image quality, the AOC G2460PF uses a TN panel, which provides a much faster response time of 1ms. Couple that with its really fast refresh rate of 144Hz, and you’ll get a very real advantage in competitive play. And with AMD FreeSync, its FreeSync range is 120Hz to 144Hz, so you won’t experience any screen tearing or stutter if your rig drops below the target frame rate. Power consumption is solid, using only 38W.

With that said, part of the monitor’s performance is wasted when paired with a PS4.. The PS4 doesn’t output any higher than 60Hz. The only real advantage 144Hz gives you is on a PC.

Design

While the AOC G2460PF is simple in design, it has a few amenities that help it stick out. Rather than a plain black look, like the Asus VG245H, it uses a few red accents along its thick bezel and a clip on the stand used for capable management. A very thick stand holds the monitor up that also allows tilting, height adjustment, and a complete 90 degree pivot.

Behind the monitor is an impressive array of connectivity options such as DisplayPort, HDMI, DVI, VGA, and four USB ports, making it nearly on par with the LG 27UK650-W. You’ll need DisplayPort for FreeSync. There’s also a pair of built-in speakers. Unfortunately, its TN panel is detrimental to viewing angles. Sitting at an angle or tilting the screen back too far will quickly blacken the screen.”

Value

The AOC G2460PF sits at a weird place; the gaming experience on a PC is great, especially if you want low input lag and a fast refresh rate, but many of its high points are wasted on console gaming. With how its price fluctuates, even at its cheapest there’s better options at this price range. The Acer R240HY, for example, is a third of the price and is far better suited for gaming on a PS4.

However, you’re still dropping money on a well-known manufacturer. You’re still getting really nice features that improve game flow. Just know that you’re also paying for the name at this point.

AOC G2460PF Wrap Up

The AOC G2460PF 24” is an impressive product as gaming monitors go.gaming monitor is an You’re getting high refresh rate, AMD FreeSync, and super fast 1ms response time on a full HD screen. It pushes 1080p to the upper echelon of performance. However, poor viewing angles, and pricing hinders it from being the best in its bracket.
