If your idea of the best monitor for watching movies and one of the best computer monitors is something portable, then the Lepow Portable Monitor has you covered. First off, it comes bundled with a smart cover and screen protector, a must-have for any portable device. More importantly, its ports are friendly to both Apple and Windows. And, when you’re ready for more screens for your computer, then read our best monitors list.

Why We Like It – Lepow Portable Monitor

When you don’t want to be stuck binge-watching The Office on a tiny phone screen, the Lepow Portable Monitor swoops in to provide the viewing experience you yearn for.

Pros
  • Portable & easy to use
  • Bundled w/ smart cover & screen protector
  • MacBook Pro & Windows-friendly
Cons
  • No full-sized HDMI

Performance

The Lepow Monitor will never be something like the BenQ EL2870U, but it does its best with what it has. Despite being a small 15.6-inch screen, 1080p looks great. And HDR mode ensures mainstream transmission is smooth. The refresh rate is your standard 60Hz, which is just fine for gaming, so it should keep up with your gaming consoles, but if you want to research more gaming-centered monitors, we have a guide on the best gaming monitor for Xbox Series X and other consoles for you to read.

These are the same specs you’d find on Newsoul’s Portable Monitor 15.6 HDR gaming monitor, which is great for movies and gaming, too.

Viewing Angle

Since the Lepow Portable Monitor has an IPS panel, you won’t believe the kind of viewing angles you get on it. Imagine moving so far to one side that your eyes level with the monitor. It isn’t until then you’ll see a drop in image quality. And if need to, you can turn it over into portrait mode.

Durability

Lepow made the smart move to protect this hunk of plastic as much as possible. With it being portable, you get a smart cover and screen protector bundled inside to improve its durability. You can always swap it out for something stronger. The smart cover gives it more versatility than the stand of a Dell Computer Ultrasharp U2415.

Ports & Expandability

The real magic is the fact that it’s friendly to Apple and Windows. This is a USB C monitor after all. It doesn’t have HDMI though, just mini HDMI. To expand your screen, you just need a single mini HDMI cable, and a Type-C cable for a USB Type C port. You may want two USB C cables, since one can be used as a power source via USB port.

Value

Why bother with Lepow USB C Portable Monitors? Why not go with a Dell Ultrasharp U2415? The reason is right there in its name: portability. When you’re on the go, there’s nothing more satisfying, relaxing, and more useful to workflow than having a second monitor. I personally have two for that very reason. And it makes a world of difference.

Lepow Portable Monitor Wrap Up

Aside from a full-sized HDMI port, the Lepow Portable Monitor has just about everything you’d want from a compact, portable monitor. You get mini HDMI and USB Type C. This makes it incredibly friendly to both Windows and Apple, so you never have to choose something strictly for one or the other.
