The Lenovo Legion Y530 may not be the next level gaming performance everyone wishes for, but it’s still one of the best laptops for Minecraft on a budget. While the GPU is started to show its age, the 8th Gen i7 is a great piece of hardware. And together they form an excellent foundation for running Minecraft. Speaking of best laptops, check out our review of some of the best gaming laptops on the market.

Why We Like It – Lenovo Legion Y530

Minecraft doesn’t need a powerhouse to play, which puts the Lenovo Legion Y530 in the perfect position due to its strong CPU and GPU combo and price point.

Pros
  • Will run Minecraft well over 60fps
  • 60Hz refresh rate
  • Ideal budget option
Cons
  • Could use an SSD for better load times

Performance & Battery

At four years old, the NVIDIA GTX 1050 Ti is starting to age, but despite that it can still run Minecraft, even at 4K! Of course, the 8th Gen Intel Core i7-8750H helps, as does the 16GB of RAM. For frames, you’re looking at up to 200+, and that’s even outputting in 4K. With a 60Hz refresh rate, you’re also getting a solid frame transition. As for battery life, 5 hours is good and plenty of time to enjoy the world of Minecraft.

Ports, Expandability & Build Quality

The selection of ports are as follows: one USB Type-C, mini DP, USB 3.0, HDMI, two USB 3.1, audio jack, and an RJ45. This is followed by a 1TB hard drive, though it could use an SSD for startup or for main storage. Build quality includes plastic; it’s fair with only small amounts of give, but nothing to be alarmed over. In that regard, the Huawei MateBook X Pro Gaming Laptop is far stronger with its all-metal chassis.

Value

Picking up a Lenovo Legion Y530 is probably the cheapest price per performance for the sake of playing Minecraft. Unlike the Alienware M15 Gaming Laptop, you aren’t spending more than you need. Both the NVIDIA GeForce 1050 Ti and Intel Core i7-8750H are more than enough to enjoy Minecraft at its peak. But if you want to branch out, then the Asus ROG Strix Scar III is a viable option.

Lenovo Legion Y530 Wrap Up

Aside from the lack of an SSD, the Lenovo Legion Y530 is perhaps one of the quickest ways to jump right into Minecraft at a reasonable price. The NVIDIA GTX 1050 Ti is getting old, but otherwise plays Minecraft perfectly, with the 8th Gen Intel Core i7-8750H on the backend. If you’re on a budget, this is what you should go with.
