How to Do the Slug on a Hoverboard

Follow these simple steps to learn a new trick on your board.

Steps

The easiest way to learn how to do the slug on your hoverboard is by starting with these steps.

  1. Place Your Hoverboard on a Flat, Stable SurfaceAlways start with your hoverboard on a flat and stable surface. This way, you won’t accidentally fall off or become unbalanced before you’ve even started the trick. While you’re first learning how to do hoverboard slugging, it’s helpful to have the board powered off until you get the hang of the trick.
  2. Kneel on the Ground Behind Your Hoverboard
Once you have your board in the appropriate starting place, kneel down about 8-10 inches away from the board. We recommend kneeling on carpet or something soft to start, if possible. This way, you stay comfortable.
  3. Place Your Forearms on the Foot Pads
Next, place your forearms directly onto the footpads of your hoverboard. Position your arms as close to the wheels as possible to give your chest plenty of room to rest in the next step.
  4. Lay Your Chest on the Foot Pads
In one swift motion after bracing your forearms on the footpads, lay your chest on the space left in between your arms. If you don’t perform this step quickly after the previous step, your hoverboard may take off without you and ruin your trick.
  5. Stretch Out Completely Prone
Now you can take the full slug position with your legs stretched out completely behind you and your entire weight resting on your hoverboard. You can lean forward a little bit and have the hoverboard’s movement do the work for you, or you can simply push your legs out behind you.
  6. Ride
Finally, it’s time to ride! When you’re slugging, the hoverboard’s controls function in the exact same way as if you were riding standing up. Lean slightly forward on your forearms to go forward and back to stop or go backward. Be sure to wear pants instead of shorts, so you don’t scrape up your legs during this trick.

STAT:

Most hoverboards can travel at a maximum speed of around 10 miles per hour.
