The best monitor for watching movies needs plenty of colors, and since the Dell Computer Ultrasharp U2415 covers nearly 80% of the SDR color gamut, it’s doing well for itself. And a 24-inch screen isn’t anything to sneeze at. More importantly, its viewing angles support a wide variety of sitting positions. If you are looking for the best monitors, the Dell Computer Ultrasharp U2415 will be perfect for you.

Why We Like It – Dell Computer Ultrasharp U2415

With such a wide, 178-degree viewing angle, the Dell Computer Ultrasharp U2415 is a great option for those who want to sink into a comfy chair and enjoy a movie without worrying about diminishing quality. Just like in our write-up of the Dell P2417H monitor, you won’t have to worry about image quality, as most Dell displays deliver great quality.

Pros
  • IPS panel; wide viewing experience
  • Full-range adjustments w/ built-in cable management
  • Large, 24-inch screen
Cons
  • Average contrast ratio
  • Lacks legacy video ports

Performance

With 16.78 million colors on display, the Dell U2415 LED Monitor isn’t a slouch with color accuracy. Its contrast ratio, however, is a different story. With just a rating of 1000:1, it’s sitting square on the line of “average.” Response time is a painful 6ms, slower than the 1ms. While 1080p looks amazing on 24-inch, since it doesn’t stretch its pixel density too much, 4K on 27-inches, like the Dell Ultrasharp U2718Q, looks even better. But for the best look? Aim for the Dell AW3418DW display, since Alienware is always better.

Keep in mind you don’t need to settle for a smaller monitor. In fact, some of the leading 40-inch computer monitors have a lot to offer at a decent price.

Viewing Angle

Viewing angles are MVP here. Its IPS panel allows for 178-degree viewing angles, unlike the restrictive Samsung C27HG70. If you were hoping to, say, watch a movie from your bed—that’s definitely an option. Furthermore, you get access to tilt, pivot, swivel, and height. On a side note: its 6.9mm bezels make multi-monitor setups easy.

You’ll find the same simplistic adjustments in another Dell monitor. Check it out by reading our Dell U2717d Ultrasharp monitor review.

Durability

Don’t let the color of the stand fool you because it’s made of hard plastic. It has a wide base, so you won’t have to worry about wobbling all that often. More importantly, its base has a cut-out for cable management anyone would love.

Ports & Expandability

If a multi-monitor setup does interest you, the Dell Computer Ultrasharp U2415 will do you justice. It has HDMI, miniDP, and DisplayPort, along with 5x USB ports. So bring plenty of HDMI mini DisplayPort cables. What isn’t so great is how poorly placed they are, behind and under the monitor.

Value

There are much better options for color-accurate activities and gaming. Just look at the 1ms response time on the BenQ EL2870U. Where does that put the Dell Ultrasharp U2415, then? Its proclivity for multi-monitor support is where its value lies, though enjoying cinema isn’t out of the question.

Dell Computer Ultrasharp U2415 Wrap Up

All things considered, the Dell Computer Ultrasharp U2415 is a small step above your average 1080p monitor. That is if you want a multi-monitor setup. Is it good for watching movies? Given its wide, 178-degree viewing angles, you bet it is. You even get a full-range adjustment on a large, 24-inch screen. It’s easy on the eyes and affordable.
