Gaming in 1080p is still standard to the average player; few have had the privilege to jump to 4K or even 2K. The ASUS Tuf Gaming VG259QM IPS Gaming Monitor is packed full of technology to get the most out of your gaming experience. That’s in addition to a fast 1ms IPS panel and 280Hz refresh rate, making it a likely candidate as the best gaming monitor for gaming in 1080p. Read on for more information and also check out the candidates for the best computer monitors.

Why We Like It – ASUS TUF Gaming VG259QM

ASUS plugged tonnes of technology into a 24.5-inch full HD IPS monitor such as 280Hz refresh rate, DisplayHDR 400 picture quality, and a fast 1ms response time.

Pros
  • 280Hz refresh rate w/ G Sync Compatible
  • Great contrast ratio and wide color gamut
  • Fast IPS panel; 1ms response time
Cons
  • It’s 1080p
  • A tad pricey

Performance

ASUS VG259QM hit the trifecta: it has a fast refresh rate and response time for high frame rate, and looks good showcasing both. With 280Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time, your frames will be so smooth. To prevent tearing, stuttering, and ghosting, it incorporates adaptive sync technology and ASUS’ Extreme Low Motion Blur Sync (ELMB Sync). And to top it off, it has a professional color gamut and contrast ratio that puts it within the DisplayHDR 400 certification, unlike the ASUS VG245H 24″ Gaming Monitor.

Design

Aesthetically speaking, the ASUS Tuf Gaming VG259QM has a tame gamer look to it, but nothing over the top. More important, it’s ergonomic. You can adjust height, swivel, pivot, and tilt. In the back are two HDMI 2.0 ports, an earphone jack, and a single DisplayPort 1.2. The screen is 24.5-inches, 2.5-inches smaller than ASUS ROG PG279Q 27″ gaming monitor, and can go up to 32-inches. For a nice sweet spot if you’re interested in this size range, there’s always the best 27 in monitor. However, this particular model is 1080p. Since this is an IPS panel, your viewing angles are much wider.

Value

Is the ASUS Tuf Gaming VG259QM worth the price? If you want the most out of 1080p, and your PC isn’t ready to handle 4K or 1440p, then this is the monitor for you. There’s still quite a bit of technology stuffed into this monitor that’s strictly for gamers in mind, not just an obligatory HDMI cable and a thank you card. It has low blue light eye care technology, Shadow Boost technology, GameVisual presets, and even ASUS-exclusive GamePlus, which offers in-game enhancements. But if resources aren’t an issue, the ASUS ROG Swift PG348Q 34″ Gaming Monitor wants your number.

ASUS TUF Gaming VG259QM Wrap Up

The ASUS Tuf Gaming VG259QM is a beast. It provides that buttery smooth frame rate through a 280Hz refresh rate, 1ms response time, wide color gamut and contrast ratio—all the while being less taxing on your machine by displaying in 1080p. All that good technology comes at a price, however, one that comes with more benefits than the surface reveals.
