You want a quiet fan that blows cool air—two features that usually don’t mix. It has to be powerful, too. Where would you get one like that? Not at the end of a rainbow, but with the Rowenta VU5670. Its quiet operation hides the fact that it’s powerful, making it one of the best fans to have in your bedroom or office.

Why We Like It – Rowenta VU5670

With 5 different speed settings, you wouldn’t expect this towering Rowenta fan to be powerful, quiet, and energy-efficient, in addition to being adjustable and remote control functionality.

Pros
  • Powerful yet whisper-quiet operating
  • 5-speed settings
  • Large coverage area
Cons
  • Remote doesn’t control head rotation
  • A bit pricey

Performance

The Rowenta VU5670 Turbo Silence Extreme Stand Fan is normally quiet by nature, never reaching above a whisper at 35dB(A) on each of its 5 speeds—even with its powerful Turbo Boost mode. One speed setting, in particular, is quieter than any of them: Silent Night mode. It’s impressive that such a quiet fan can blow so much cool air around the room, unlike the somewhat loud Vornado 660 Large Whole Room Air Circulator Fan. It creates a powerful airflow up to 2436 Cu. Ft./min and oscillates too to reach a much wider area. Other fans that can reach more areas include the SPT SF-16W81 and the Pelonis FZ10-19MB.

Design

Similar to the Pelonis fan, the Rowenta Turbo Silence Extreme Pedestal Fan uses less plastic than any fan on our list, making it a bit heavier than, say, the Honeywell QuietSet but far tougher. It’s fairly tall at 24-inches, though that can be adjusted. We like the onboard controls in particular, which can also be adjusted via the remote control. It cannot control head rotation, however. On the bright side, it is much easier to clean than a Lasko T42950, which is nothing but a dust collector. That said, you do know you can clean any fan with a plastic bag.

Value

The VU5670 Stand Fan Rowenta has created a great alternative to ceiling fans. Now, it is a bit on the pricey side at $138, but let’s consider the positives. You could pay the same amount for a quiet operating ceiling fan, but you’ll also have to have it wired. That’s another bill. Or you could drop $138 on this, with free shipping, and have a quiet operating fan you can move around the house. If we had to pick, we’d go with the Rowenta VU5670. Rowenta VU5670 Wrap Up

The Rowenta VU5670 is like having a portable yet powerful ceiling fan without the need to stick it on your ceiling. We think that justifies its price, for sure. In return, you get 5-speed settings, which are all-powerful and all operate at a whisper. And yet, still cover a wide area with its oscillating head. With the added remote control, it’s so hard to pass on.
