Performance
The AmazonBasics Dual Blade Oscillating Pedestal Fan did as well as any generic standing fan would, though worked especially well in medium-sized rooms. This is because, while traditional in style, the fan uses a dual blade system rather than one. That additional blade gives it extra airflow power where it matters as it’s oscillating.
When it’s doing its job, it’s surprisingly a whisper-quiet pedestal fan—but its strongest setting is noticeably loud. You’ve got three to choose from, including three breeze modes which come in handy at night. If we had to choose, however, the Vornado 660 Large Whole Room Air Circulator Fan is far superior.
Design
Where the AmazonBasics Oscillating Dual Blade Standing Pedestal Fan falters is in its design. The adjustable height and dual blade system work beautifully—that’s not the issue. The issue is the cheap quality of the fan. It has a lot of plastic parts with very few pieces replaced with aluminum or steel. It’ll last a while if you take care of it, but all it’ll take is a few bad falls to destroy it. The Honeywell QuietSet is the same way: made largely of plastic.
Value
The AmazonBasics Oscillating Dual Blade Standing Pedestal Fan is a decent fan for the price it asks for. Handing over $40 for its performance and cheap quality sounds about right. But should you pick one up? Let’s put it this way: if you have the extra $20 to spare, go with the Lasko T42950 instead.
