Instant Pot, as their name implies, is renowned for their pressure cooker. They also make a range of other cooking appliances, including an innovative blender, the Ace 60 Cooking Blender which combines a blender ordinarily used to make milkshakes and smoothies, with a cooking option that can make hot meals like soups and stews. The Ace 60 features 8 pre-programmed recipe cycles. Although not listed in the best blender buyer’s guide, the Instant Pot Ace 60 Cooking Blender is an innovative blender that can do more than just whip up a smoothie.

Why We Like It – Instant Pot Ace 60 Cooking Blender

The Instant Pot Ace 60 Cooking Blender combines a blender with a cooker, and that may earn it a permanent spot on your kitchen counter doing work that would otherwise require many different appliances.

Pros
  • A blender that also cooks
  • Makes many kinds of foods –soups, chowders, soy milk, ice cream, and more
  • Clean looks and ease of use
Cons
  • Heavy jar
  • Hard to clean

Performance

The Ace Blender is super heavy duty and can handle frozen ingredients including crushing ice. An integrated heating element within the jar makes preparation of hot items much quicker than with other blenders. Can be a game changer if you routinely blend soups, sauces, stews, chowders, or anything else warm. Pre-programming allows you to ‘one-touch’ the most popular blends like smoothies, crushed ice, puree, soy milk, and others. For a puree style soup you put in the ingredients, touch the button, and come back when it’s done. The Ace will even hold a soup you’ve prepared and keep it warm, stirring it every couple of minutes. If you’re mostly into colder preparations then the Ninja BL610 Professional Blender or Oster Versa Pro are possibly more suitable alternatives.

Design

Lots of style points for the looks of the Ace Blender. If you already own any other Instant Pot item, the Ace will nicely complement it. The human interface of the Ace 60 has smooth buttons (like an elevator) and digital displays of blend time and temp. Unlike other blenders that heat ingredients through blade friction, the Ace pitcher has a built-in heating element which shortens the time needed to get concoctions hot, plus it doesn’t have to spin the entire time. Because of this ability the Ace does well prepping a chunky style soup or stew, in addition to puree-style recipes. The pre-programmed cycles make the Ace 60 robotic. You don’t have to watch it work (unless you want to). The integrated heating element does require that care be exercised when cleaning the glass jar which cannot be detached from the base / blades. Instant Pot says their motor turns 25,000 rpm’s which is on par with most other high-end blenders.

Value

The Instant Pot Ace 60 Cooking Blender is an interesting slant on turning a blender into a more all-round cooking appliance. Instant Pot is the first to introduce this whole idea. It’s overkill if all you want are smoothies –stick with the NutriBullet NBR-1201. The Instant Pot Ace Blender will deliver more value the more you’re willing to try new things that you wouldn’t ordinarily think of doing with a blender. While the Ace 60 comes with a few recipes to try, many find that purchasing a more comprehensive cookbook of blender recipes is also a good investment.
