They come in a variety of sizes, colors and styles, and they have just as many features. We spent over 12 hours exploring the best personal blenders on the market, and have come up with a solid list. After all, we all want the very best blender.

The top pick is the Hamilton Beach Personal Blender and 14oz Travel Cup. It’s at the top because it includes a dishwasher-safe 14 oz travel container, a 175-watt motor with plenty of power, and it comes in several styles. Plus, it’s affordably-priced making it one of the most lucrative models on the list. That said, we did find several other personal blenders that we liked. Keep reading to learn more about our top pick and all the others.

Top 7 Best Personal Blenders Compared

#1  Hamilton Beach Personal Blender and 14oz Travel Cup (51131)

Award: Top Pick

WHY WE LIKE IT: The Hamilton Beach Personal Blender is priced incredibly well compared to most of the other blenders, yet still includes everything you need. A 14-ounce travel cup can hold a little more than advertised, and a 175-watt motor is plenty powerful to mix drinks with fresh ingredients. It only comes with one cup, though, so it’s mainly for those who don’t pre-prepare multiple drinks.

  • 175-watt motor provides suitable power
  • A dishwasher-safe jar that’s easy to clean

[su_column size=”1/2″][su_box title=”Cons” box_color=”#B2B9C3″ radius=”0″][su_list icon=”icon: ban” icon_color=”#B2B9C3″]

  • No extra cups or accessories
  • One cup means one drink at a time
  • On the low-end of the power spectrum compared to other models

[/su_list][/su_box][/su_column]
[/su_row]

The Hamilton Beach Personal Blender comes with a 14-ounce travel cup, that admittedly holds a little more than advertised. That’s excellent considering the blender doesn’t come with any additional jars or accessories. It is well-priced, however, being the second cheapest on the entire list, and includes everything you would need to blend drinks. A 175-watt motor is not super powerful compared to other blenders (it’s places 2nd from the bottom in the entire list), but it is strong enough to handle smoothies, shakes and other freshly-prepared drinks. What’s most unique about the Hamilton Beach blender is that the travel cup is dishwasher-safe, which means it’s super easy to clean. The entire system also comes in several color variations, allowing you to choose your favorite. That degree of personalization is rare, reserved only for a couple of blenders on the list, including this one.

It’s the top pick because it’s affordable, includes everything you need and would be the ideal choice for anyone looking to mix one or two drinks at a time. If you’re the type of person that loves to pre-prepare all your meals — and multiple drinks — you’d be better off with one of the other blenders that include multiple cups.  #2  Oster BLSTPB-WBL My Blend 250W Blender with Travel Bottle

Award: Honorable Mention

WHY WE LIKE IT: The Oster BLSTPB-WBL My Blend 250W Personal Blender has the best price of all models on the list and also includes a larger mid-size travel cup at 20 ounces. The 250-watt motor is quite powerful, even capable of crushing ice. While it doesn’t include a whole lot of bells and whistles, it’s ideal for anyone looking to create just one or two drinks.

  • No extra cups or accessories, although 20oz bottle holds bigger drinks

[/su_list][/su_box][/su_column]
[/su_row]

While the Oster BLSTPB-WBL My Blend 250W Personal Blender doesn’t come with many accessories, it’s plenty capable, especially for the price. It’s one of the cheapest blenders on the list, and it comes with a dishwasher-safe 20-ounce sports bottle. Most of the cheaper blenders come with smaller-size blender cups or jars, so that’s a good thing to see here. It has a 250-watt motor (putting it at middle ground on the list), powerful enough to handle any type of beverage and also suitable for crushing ice. A built-in and resettable fuse makes dealing with overheating issues pretty easy. It will revive the motor within 15 minutes if there are any problems. You shouldn’t encounter any unless you’re trying to mix or crush some pretty big solids, but it’s still great to have.

Oster’s blender is perfect for anyone that wants to mix one or two drinks at a time, yet doesn’t want to pay too much for the opportunity. You can also choose from a variety of styles, too, offering a small degree of personalization. Compare this to the best blenders under $100.

#3  Bella BLA13984 Rocket Extract Pro Blender

Award: Most Versatile

WHY WE LIKE IT: Bella’s BLA13984 Rocket Extract Pro Blender comes bundled with plenty of extras, including a 32oz pitcher, two 24oz tumblers and a third, 12oz tumbler. The 700-watt motor is powerful — on par with Ninja’s blenders at the top of the list. The Bella can chop, blend, dice or prepare just about anything, even solids. It’s best for hardcore blenders that will prepare multiple drinks at once, or big families.

  • Only two color options: stainless steel, or stainless and black
  • Blades dull somewhat quickly

[/su_list][/su_box][/su_column]
[/su_row]

The standout feature of the Bella BLA13984 Rocket Extract Pro Blender is that it comes not just as a blender and cup, but as an entire 15-piece set. Included are two different blades, a 32oz pitcher, two 24oz tumblers and another 12oz tumbler. Of course, it also comes with lids for all of those containers. You can prepare and store several drinks at a time, which means multiple drinks throughout the day for one person, or enough drinks for the entire family.

The 700-watt motor is incredibly powerful, one of the strongest on the list, which means the Bella can handle just about everything you throw at it including frozen goods and hard solids. Although, reviewers did mention that the blades wear down rather quickly, so keep that in mind. It’s ideal for any blenders that need to make multiple drinks at a time. That could mean several drinks for one person, or enough drinks for the whole family. The sheer variety of blending cups and dual blade attachments also means that the blender is incredibly versatile. You will likely find this to be the best blender for green smoothies.

 #4  Ninja BL456 24oz Countertop Blender

Award: Most Powerful

WHY WE LIKE IT: With an insane 900-watts of power, the Ninja BL456 24oz Countertop Blender is, by far, the most powerful on the list. If you want a personal blender that offers power on-par with a full-size model this is it. You can make smoothies or drinks out of just about anything. Of course, it also comes with two dishwasher-safe cups — one 18 ounce and one 24 ounce, with lids.

  • No style options, but you can choose bigger bundles (2-4 cups)

[/su_list][/su_box][/su_column]
[/su_row]

Ninja’s BL456 24oz Countertop Blender boasts 900-watts of power, the highest on the list. That means it can blend or crush just about anything, from ice and frozen fruit to seeds, skins and stems. Just toss it in and the blender will take care of it. It also comes with two different size travel cups, one that’s 18 ounces and another that’s 24 ounces.

While there are no style options, which means little to no personalization, that’s not a big deal. Ninja’s insanely powerful blender is clearly for anyone that wants the power of a full-size blender in a compact form. The dual travel cup options also mean support for multiple drinks, but also a little more versatility than your average blender. You may also want to check out the best immersion blender.

 #5  Cuisinart CPB-300 350W 32oz Blender

Award: Most Comprehensive

WHY WE LIKE IT: While it is one of the pricier blenders on the list, Cuisinart’s CPB-300 Blender comes with a ton of accessories;one 32 oz blending jar, one 8 oz chopping cup, and 4x 16 oz travel cups with lids. There are also 2 separate blade attachments, one for chopping and the other for blending. A 350-watt motor provides enough power to blend, cut, dice or chop just about anything (not the highest). This bundle is suitable for large families or anyone that wants to prep several drinks at once.

  • Includes four 16oz dishwasher-safe travel cups with lids

  • Only two color variations, one stainless steel and the other white
  • One of the pricier blenders on the list

[/su_list][/su_box][/su_column]
[/su_row]

Similar to the Bella in spot #3, Cuisinart’s CPB-300 350W Blender comes with several different-size containers, the largest of which is 32 ounces. The full list includes a 32-ounce blending jar, an 8-ounce chopping cup, and four 16 ounce travel cups with lids. You also get two blade attachments which you can swap out as needed, one for chopping and the other for blending. Altogether, Cuisinart’s set makes for the most comprehensive out of the entire list. You can use the blender for everything from chopping and grinding ingredients to making frozen drinks — and there’s a different cup or jar for each task. For ice, read the best blenders for crushing ice.

A 350-watt motor is not the most powerful — it’s closer to mid-range — but it’s certainly capable of doing any task you’d need a blender of this caliber to handle. It’s great for large families, anyone that wants to prep several beverages all at once, or someone who just hates doing the dishes.

 #6  Oberly 13oz Portable Blender

Award: Most Portable

WHY WE LIKE IT: The Oberly Portable Blender only has a 175-watt motor (not the most powerful compared to others), but that’s okay because it’s battery-operated. Built-in is a 2,000mAh USB-rechargeable battery, which means no outlet needed. The battery can make 10 to 12 cups per charge and the 17 oz travel cup is about mid-level compared to others on the list. It’s a great blender for anyone that’s always on-the-go and wants to do their mixing anywhere, anytime.

  • Includes 17oz cup
  • Several colors available including blue, green, pink and purple

[su_column size=”1/2″][su_box title=”Cons” box_color=”#B2B9C3″ radius=”0″][su_list icon=”icon: ban” icon_color=”#B2B9C3″]

  • 175-watt motor on the low-end
  • When going portable, you have to bring ingredients with you

[/su_list][/su_box][/su_column]
[/su_row]

Because Oberly’s Portable Blender is the only one on the list that includes a rechargeable battery, it’s also the only option for anyone that wants to do their blending on-the-go. A 2,000mAh USB-rechargeable battery comes with the unit, good for 10 to 12 uses before you need to charge it again. A 17oz travel cup offers ample capacity to make a decent size drink, especially if you’re on the move anyway. The biggest drawback of the setup is that you’ll have to carry your ingredients with you, whether that means tossing them all in the cup or carrying them another way.

Since it has low-wattage and a single 17-ounce cup it’s hard to recommend Oberly’s blender over some of the other options on the list, unless you’re exclusively looking for a portable, cordless model. For more great kitchen items read our kitchen appliances section.

 #7  Ninja 700W Fit-Size Personal Blender

Award: Best Combo (Power / Accessories)

WHY WE LIKE IT: The Ninja Personal Blender is the best of both worlds, offering excellent power (700W – 2nd highest) along with a host of accessories. With the blender. you get two 16 ounce travel cups with lids, ideal for making an extra drink — whether preparing ahead or accommodating multiple people. Both cups are dishwasher-safe, which means they’re easy to clean. Plus, it comes with a recipe guide that has some useful food and drink ideas.

  • Most expensive on the list

[/su_list][/su_box][/su_column]
[/su_row]

The Ninja 700-Watt Fit-size Personal Blender comes with two 16 ounce travel cups and lids, making it the best combo purchase; power and versatility. It offers higher power than every other blender — besides the other Ninja — and comes with an extra cup. Both cups are dishwasher-safe, too, so they’re easy to clean.

The higher power means you can blend, chop, and mix just about anything into your drinks including frozen fruits and veggies, solids and more. It even comes with a 50-recipe cookbook to give you some meal and drink ideas to work on. Altogether, this Ninja is excellent for anyone that wants a powerful compact blender and multiple cups, namely to prepare more than one drink at a time. Your kitchen will also benefit from our kitchen section and from reading our blenders list.

How We Decided

The first thing we looked at for each blender was the travel cup or jar size, and whether or not the blender comes with any accessories. While not every blender on this list includes extra cups or blades, they all have a suitable primary cup size ranging from 12 ounces to 32 ounces in capacity. Our top pick, the Hamilton Beach personal blender has a 14-ounce travel cup that is plenty big enough to hold a smoothie, shake or healthy beverage.

The next thing we looked for was a relatively powerful motor. The weakest blender on the list clocks in at 100-watts, with the most powerful coming in at 900-watts. Even at the lower end of the spectrum you can blend, chop and mix a wide variety of ingredients to make fresh and healthy meals or drinks. 100-watts is also strong enough to crush and mix ice cubes, albeit only a few cubes at a time. The higher the wattage, the more power the blender has. At 900-watts you can throw just about anything in the blender including solids like frozen veggies and fruits, skins, nuts, and more.

Finally, we looked at the price and any additional perks such as recipe books or guides for making delicious cocktails and smoothies. Starting at $20 and reaching up to $60, all blenders on the list are reasonably priced considering what you get. We tried to stay away from anything too expensive, with the Ninja models being the exception. Ninja is well known for being high in quality but also higher in price. Regardless, there’s something on the list for everyone, at pretty much every price point one would expect.

Other popular models worth checking out include the Nutri Ninja Blender & Smoothie Maker and the NUTRiBULLET Magic Bullet Blender, Mixer & Food Processo. To compare pricing, specs, and customer reviews, search for our Top Picks and other popular choices on Amazon.com.

Personal Blenders Buyer’s Guide

The Most Important Features to Consider

  1. Size
Most personal blenders fall between 12 and 32 ounces in total capacity. That is the amount of beverage the blender can hold, whether for preparation or consumption. Some of the blenders are designed to be portable, which means you can use them just about anywhere. For those types of blenders, the size tells you exactly how much of a beverage or mix you can prepare and store. For blenders that are meant to be used at home, you could empty the unit and refill it, so it’s less indicative of the total amount you can carry and more about how much you can make. In either case, size tells you precisely how much you can prepare at one time with the blender. If you’re making personal drinks that’s not such a big deal, but if you need to make multiple drinks or accommodate others, well, it’s important to consider.
  2. Accessories
All of the blenders on this list include the base setup, which is a blender-base and travel cup both of which work together to create drinks. You connect the travel cup or reservoir to the base, which is used to blend up whatever is inside. It’s a fairly simple setup. Some of the blenders on the list also come with additional accessories. That might include an extra travel lid and cup and several lids or covers. In the case of the Oberly blender, that means portable rechargeable batteries, too. Depending on how and where you plan to use the blender, the accessories might be a major consideration for which model better fits your needs. If you’d like to be able to use the personal blender on-the-go — even with no power source available — then Oberly’s blender is the ideal fit. The rechargeable batteries mean you can still use the device without a power outlet nearby. Alternatively, if you’d like to prepare multiple drinks from a single blender in the morning and then carry them all with you throughout the day, one of the blenders that include multiple travel lids and cups are your best bet.
  3. Power (Wattage)
In most cases, the wattage will tell you the total amount of power a device needs, which is also usually indicative of how powerful a unit is. The higher the wattage the more powerful the device. That’s still the case with personal blenders, however, it’s much less a concern than comparable products. Speaker wattage, for example, is important to consider especially if you want more capable and better-sounding speakers. With blenders it doesn’t matter all that much unless you’re talking about incredibly low wattage — that would mean the blender is weak and might have trouble mixing drinks. Everything on this list is at least 100 watts or higher — most are way higher — which is plenty of power for a blender. Just keep in mind, the higher the wattage the better the unit is at blending beverages and solids like fruits, vegetables and more.
  4. Style (Colors)
Perhaps of least importance to most, is the style or finish for each blender. Some of them come with a more unique look, like Hamilton Beach’s Raspberry color blender. Others, like Ninja’s blenders, come with a plainer — yet still delightful — solid black finish. The color and style have no bearing on how well the blender works. It’s all about personal preference. Some folks might enjoy carrying around a pink blender and travel cup, while others will not. In the end, some of the blenders on the list have multiple color variations to choose from, adding a degree of customization to the mix.

Personal Blenders FAQs

Is Blender X BPA Free?

For the most part, the blenders you see here are listed as BPA free. Whether or not that is true, you’ll have to consider on a case-by-case basis. Even if the label claims so, that doesn’t necessarily make it true.

How Large Are the Jars?

The size you see listed details the precise capacity of the jars or travel cups. If you see 14 ounces then the jar can hold 14 ounces of liquid. If you see 32, then it can hold 32 ounces.

What Can You Make with These Blenders?

You can make everything from frozen drinks — like smoothies and shakes — to adult cocktails. You can even make homemade baby food! Most of the blenders offer enough power to chop, grind, shred or blend solids, too. The higher the listed wattage the more powerful the blender. If you’re talking about fresh fruits and vegetables, pretty much everything you see here should be fine. Although, with some of the low-power blenders you might have to let frozen goods thaw first. If you’re talking about nuts or tougher ingredients you might run into some trouble with the low-power models, but something like one of Ninja’s 700 to 900-watt blenders would be excellent.

Does “Personal” Mean You Can Use Them Anywhere?

For the most part, no. The term “personal” merely indicates that the blender is smaller in size and meant for mixing single-serve drinks, primarily for yourself. However, everything on this list does come with a travel cup. With that, you can blend the drink(s) at home and take the cup with you provided you’re going to drink it right away or have someplace to store it — like a small cooler. The exception is Oberly’s portable personal blender which includes rechargeable batteries. Since it can run from battery power — and includes them — you can use the device to prepare drinks anywhere, even when there’s no power outlet nearby. Just be aware, that’s not the norm.

How Powerful Is X Blender?

Look at the wattage. The higher the wattage the more powerful the blender. Everything on this list is at least 100 watts or higher, which is enough power to mix a full drink, including one that contains fresh fruits or veggies, powder, or similar ingredients.

Are the Cups Easy to Clean? Are They Dishwasher Safe?

Most of the personal blenders on this list include a travel cup or jar that is dishwasher safe. You would be better off assessing each blender and its accessories individually, however, just to be sure. As for whether or not they are easy to clean, yes they are. All of the bundles on this list include cups or jars that can be disassembled and cleaned thoroughly. That includes the cup, the lid or cover and any seals and additional pieces — like the blades.
