Breville BSB510XL Control Grip Immersion Blenders are some of the best blenders for hot liquids because of a number of useful attachments and a rubber bottom that prevents pot scratching. It only has a one-year warranty though. It would be wise to follow cleaning instructions to the letter so you can get the most out of the blender because of this.

Why We Like It – Breville BSB510XL

The Breville BSB510XL comes equipped with 280 watts of power, 15 speeds, and a lightweight design. While this kind of power may seem low you must remember that this is a hand blender, and is in fact quite high. And 15 speeds is often not found on blenders, let alone hand blenders, so consider yourself lucky. And if you are searching for a professional food processing blender, this Breville Bfp800xl review may provide more insights.

Pros
  • Efficient and Powerful Blending Shaft
  • Number of Useful Attachments
  • Has a Rubber Bottom to Prevent Pot Scratching
Cons
  • Drive Gear Made of Plastic
  • Only Has a One Year Warranty

Power

The Breville Control Grip BSB510XL Blender comes with a motor unit that houses a 280 watt motor with excellent torque. If you want something more powerful, and I mean exceptionally more, check out the Cleanblend Blender review. The reason the wattage seems so low on the Breville is because it’s a hand blender. But not to worry, the blending shaft is long, so it can be used with deep containers, and because it’s bell shaped and equipped with two internal ribs there will be a perfect vortex. Speed

With 15 speed settings and a power button, the Breville BSB510XL is one of the most versatile on the market. If you prefer a more minimalist approach to blending speeds, consider the Oster Pro 1200. The Breville Stick Blender is easy to operate too. Using the dial, select your speed (between 1 and 15), and then hold down the power button to begin blending. The blender will stop automatically once the button is released.

Durability

Considering it’s a hand blender, the Breville BSB510XL weighs a measly 3.8 pounds. Unfortunately, it is made of stainless steel, which is a pain to clean. And the drive gear is made of plastic, which feels a little cheap. Speaking of cleaning, the gearboxes and motor body should be cleaned with a damp cloth only. And while the attachments are all dishwasher safe, they should really be cleaned manually or, at the very least, placed on the top rack of the dishwasher.

Versatility/Attachments

The Breville BSB510XL features a number of useful attachments. The chopping bowl chops herbs, grates bread crumbs, and cuts cooked red meat. The whisk attachment mixes light batters, prepares whipped cream, and can incorporate air into egg whites at mid to maximum speeds for 20-30 seconds. And these are just a few examples. Honestly, whatever you would use a chopping bowl or whisk attachment for can be transferred to this blender.

Value

The tall pots and bowls mean that you can blend in the pot with no more transferring from the pot to the food processor and back. And while the unit does come with a one-year warranty, it pales in comparison to the warranties its competitors offer, such as the seven-year warranty found on the Vitamix 5200 Blender. But if I can end this with one more plus that may seem trivial, but can prevent headaches, the unit also has a rubber bottom to prevent pot scratching.

Breville BSB510XL Wrap Up

The Breville BSB510XL is an excellent-value blender that is more than worth considering. Don’t be concerned because it’s a hand blender and not a traditional blender. Sometimes the highest valued meals are the ones you put a little elbow grease into. The Breville Blender will allow you to do just that.
