Cuisinart’s Hurricane Compact Juicing Blender is a complete blending solution package that includes the motor base and multiple BPA-free containers of varying sizes. The Cuisinart Hurricane Compact is indeed compact but certainly powerful enough to tackle whole fruits, frozen ingredients, or chopping chores. Although the Cuisinart Hurricane is not among those listed in our best blender buyer’s guide, it is nevertheless a great choice if your needs include both individually portioned beverages as well as other blending chores. If big blender performance is better for your intended uses, then consider the Ninja Professional BL610 Professional Blender or the Oster Versa Pro.

Why We Like It – Cuisinart Hurricane Compact Juicing Blender

The Cuisinart Hurricane Compact Juicing Blender is a flexible solution for blending everything from smoothies to baby food. It delivers big blender performance in a smaller form factor. Bigger than “bullet” style blenders, but smaller than larger monster sized blenders.

Performance

The Cuisinart Hurricane Compact Juicing Blender is a straightforward and powerful blender. A simple wheel control for pulse, low, and high settings. Thus, essentially a two-speed blender with pulse. In addition to a 32oz. jar, it comes with two 16oz travel cups with locking lids –one double walled the other single walled—and an 8oz. chopper cup. All made of BPA-free Tritan plastic. The Hurricane is smaller than a full-sized blender which some will like because it doesn’t take up so much counter space. Others find the diminutive size disappointing. Left-handed threads sealing containers to the blade base are annoying to some — we’ve all been taught “righty-tighty, lefty-loosey” but the Hurricane is the opposite.

Design

The Hurricane is an extremely basic design. A simple wheel controls everything. Turn the wheel to high or low and let it run, or toggle the wheel to ‘pulse’ for short blade turns, such as for chopping. The main sticking point for many users appears to be the way containers screw onto the base by using a left-handed thread, i.e., turn counterclockwise to tighten. Left-handed threading is designed to mitigate any chance of motor torque loosening the seal. Seems reasonable, but many owners find that this is the main downside of the Hurricane. [Cuisinart may be acknowledging this area as problematic–there are reports of Hurricane blenders being delivered with right-handed threads which implies different motor rotation.] Despite its name, it’s simply a compact blender and not really a “juicer.” As with most blenders, prolonged operation attempting to truly “juice” ingredients can prematurely burn-out the motor.

Value

The Cuisinart Hurricane Compact Juicing Blender is a good alternative to a single serve bullet style blender. You get the same convenience of single portioning, plus other containers for when you need to blend more or chop ingredients, and an extra blade comes in handy, too. But it’s still not the same as a traditional high capacity blender. The Hurricane is priced reasonably and with the numerous add-ons to enhance its usefulness, it’s a good compromise that you can keep on the countertop full time. Still, if all you’re ever making is that daily smoothie for yourself then the NutriBullet NBR-1201 is tough to beat.

Cuisinart Hurricane Compact Juicing Blender Wrap Up

The Cuisinart Hurricane Compact Juicing Blender is made by a household name vendor and comes with many add-ons –even dishwasher safe ‘smoothie straws’ perfect for thick smoothie concoctions. It’s a good everyday blender in any kitchen, one that’s small enough to keep out ready for use at any time. It’s super simple to use and blends your favorite nutritional ingredients well.
