In the market for the best electric bike? When it comes to the best electric cargo bikes, the Yuba Spicy Curry Bosch offers a smooth and comfortable ride, thanks to a pair of Schwalbe fat tires and the renowned Bosch Cargo Line motor, manufactured specifically for cargo bikes, which can go up to 20 miles per hour. We loved the hydraulic disc brake system, with 4-piston brakes on the front and 20-piston rear brakes, and the sturdy aluminum frame. The load capacity here is 440 pounds, so it is a great choice for hauling groceries or children.

Why We Like It – Yuba Spicy Curry Bosch

The high quality Yuba Spicy Curry Bosch is a cargo bike with hydraulic front and rear disc brakes, a Bosch Performance Line CX motor that can ride up to 20 MPH, and Schwalbe fat tires, which increase handling and riding comfort.

Pros
  • Schwalbe fat tires for handling and comfort
  • 4-piston front brakes and 2-piston rear brakes
  • Bosch Cargo Line motor can go up to 20 MPH
Cons
  • Integrated tail light is fairly weak

Durability & Build Quality

The front headlight is luminous and great for night riding, but we found the integrated tail light to be on the weaker side, particularly during daytime riding. Also, this cargo bike really needs several accessories to really shine, such as single cushion seats and a bamboo deck, none of which are included with the initial purchase, though they can be bought separately. Weighing in at 63 lbs, this thing is 10 lbs heavier than most standard electric bicycles but it’s actually not too bad for a cargo electric bike, and you can easily remove the battery, the display and the front wheel to reduce weight if you need to, and the rear wheel can also be removed though it’s not as simple as the front. If you’re interested in increasing your cargo capacity one accessory is the Optional Bread Basket Front Rack with Liner and Net, it’s too cheap as just throwing on a milk crate but it will look nicer and depending on the one you chose you might have one that matches your rear rack. You should also take some time to go through the Yuba electric boda boda review.

Performance (Speed & Acceleration)

Activating the bike and getting setup to ride is very straightforward and uncomplicated. Once the battery is mounted and charged, just press the power button near the lower left corner of the Bosch Intuvia display. It comes on very quickly compared to other systems like the Pedego Stretch, from here you’ll see a five-bar battery indicator, mirroring the five-LED indicator on the battery pack, along with your speed, trip stats and an assist indicator on the right. This electric assist chart goes from off up to eco, tour, sport and turbo. But if you are looking for the perfect e-road bike, you need to go through the review of the Bianchi impulso e road electric road bike.
Tumbling through the led display produces a tactile click and has a rubberized button between the up and down arrows which serves as a reference point. Many reviews raved praise as they liked this readout because it dynamically updates as you cycle up and down with pedal assist settings.
The higher you arrow up, the lower expected range you will get. And those range stats are generated based on the last three miles of riding combined with the remaining battery capacity and assist setting level. Other highlights of the display are that it’s backlit for ease of reading at night, it’s also larger than some other E bikes such as the one you’ll find on the Tern GSD S10 Electric Cargo Bike so you don’t need to have perfect vision to see it.
With the 10 Speed 1×10 Shimano Deore Cogset similar to the Longtail Cargo bike the Spicy Curry is a mid drive bike.

Range & Battery

While the LED lights come on with the start of the bike they can be shut off it you find them to be distracting or draining power to quickly though with the 36V Lithium-ion battery that drives the bike it shouldn’t have too much of an effect, especially when the tail light doesn’t illuminate that well.

Safety features

Similar to the Rad Power Bikes Radwagon it has the Shimano Hydraulic Disc with 180 mm Rotors, Shimano Two-Finger Levers with Adjustable Reach for its breaks of choices with four on the 26 inch front tire and two on the rear, if any of them fail the customer service is reachable through their email address.

Value

After long use and many miles of numerous reviews report overwhelmingly positive. While the price may seem steep compared to some non-motorized bikes, those numerous reviewers said that the Yuba Spicy Curry was a genuine replacement for a first or second car.

Yuba Spicy Curry Bosch Wrap Up

The Yuba Spicy Curry is a well thought-out e-bike intended for haulers of serious cargo or for busy families. This is not a regular bike with an electric-assist motor bolted on. That said if you drive on the road we’d recommend wearing a reflective vest as the rear light might not be enough to show your there.
