Durability & Build Quality

Boardman designed the ADV 8.9e to offer maximum versatility for an Electric bike for any electric adventures. Blending the speed of a road bike with a more relaxed position and off road focussed geometry means this bike can turn its hand to almost anything. With the smooth power of the Fazua motor driving you onwards, you can explore further and faster than ever before, confident that you can tackle any hidden hills. While not a great matchup against road bikes the ADV 8.9E can compete with other gravel bikes like the Yamaha Wabash. The stem is made of the same Boardman Alloy, as the rest of the bike and is a 80mm size SM MD, with a 90mm size LG XL. Performance (Speed & Acceleration)

Though the Fazua System Evation 250w motor is great for accelerating and for climbing steep inclines, it does max out at 15.5 miles per hour, which could be an issue for some. Also, the 50mm tires that accompany this ebike are made for riding over gravel, which is great, though they can struggle slightly on asphalt. With a lowered bottom bracket the height gives excellent stability, and 38mm wide Schwalbe G One Speed tyres provide maximum grip and confidence on or off road.

Range & Battery

The Fazua Evation e bike drive system features a hidden, integrated motor capable of producing 250W of power assistance and 60Nm of torque. This is combined with a removable 250Wh battery, which makes for easy charging without needing a plug where you store your bike.

Safety features

The wide range SRAM Apex 1 x 11 speed groupset gives a great spread of gears for climbing or descending, and the powerful SRAM Apex hydraulic disc brakes mean stopping is smooth and controlled.

Value

While not cheap by any means the Boardman E Road Bike can go up to size XL while many road e bikes like the Giant Revolt E+ Pro don’t fit taller people as well as those who are shorter.

Boardman ADV 8.9E Wrap Up

All in all when it comes to E road bikes or gravel only the Boardman ADV 8.9E has a Fazua app to help track yourself unfortunately the Specialized Turbo Creo SL can beat it’l low torque speed as the low 15mph on the Boardman may not be enough for everyone.
