If you want to install a home security system, you may be thinking about Xfinity Home Security vs. ADT. They’re both excellent home security systems that offer plenty of devices so that you can customize your setup. The best Home Security will depend on your budget and how you feel about each provider.

Reputation in your area may have a lot to do with your choice, and that’s not something that a short comparison can confirm. We can tell you what Xfinity offers and what ADT offers, however. Or if you want to know about ADT specifically, take a look at our ADT home security review. With some Xfinity home security reviews, for example, you will be better prepared to make the decision. If you’re worried about your personal safety as well, you’ll also be interested in our guide to the D.A.D 2 defense alert device.

The Basics

Both the ADT and the Xfinity home security systems feature professional installation, a control panel, an event-triggered alarm, security cameras, router, and wireless sensors like the door, moisture, and window sensors. You can also take advantage of 24/7 professional monitoring in some cases.

The control panel allows you to handle all your connected security devices from one location. Some control panels will allow you to connect other smart devices like a thermostat, too.

While ADT only offers home security, Xfinity markets itself as a product where you can bundle all your home services together, including phone and TV. The Xfinity home service is quite impressive in this regard.

Integrations

Security companies are coming around to integrations with other smart home devices in light of the Internet of Things movement and the plethora of do-it-yourself solutions when it comes to cameras and sensors.

ADT and Xfinity offer similar technology offerings. They both have smartphone apps that allow you to control your system from your phone. They send text and email alerts, and they provide live camera feeds.

Both companies also offer advanced automation based on events like leaving or coming back home. With GPS enabled services, you can program lights, thermostats, or door locks to behave in a certain way based on the situation.

Cost

Cost varies considerably, depending on your location, and the level of services you choose. However, both ADT and Xfinity charge an installation fee, require a contract, and bill monthly for their services. While ADT requires a two-year contract, Xfinity security reviews confirm the company asks for three years.

Monthly fees start at roughly the same price but go up from there based on what package you choose or which monitoring services you want. Xfinity comes with the added benefit of being able to bundle more than one monthly service on a single bill.

Devices

ADT has a much more extensive range of equipment available than Xfinity. Over and above the tools they have in common, ADT also offers garage door sensors, glass break sensors, flooding monitors, panic buttons, medical alerts, and doorbell cameras. Keep in mind with these added features; you’ll pay more, too.

Reputation

Now’s the time to make your decision. Still not sold on one or the other? According to the BBB and TrustPilot, both ADT and Xfinity have similar reputations. While ADT’s reputation sparkles on merit, part of the reason Xfinity has a good reputation is because of its link to a parent company, Comcast.

Either way, you’re getting a service backed by a proven company that has experience in the industry.
