Blink cameras were already great, but the Indoor 1 System was lacking a few features. Fortunately, the XT2 completely reworks everything, adding 1080p, indoor and outdoor positioning, infrared night vision, and water resistance. Is it the best home security camera? Make your judgement after reading our review.

Performance

Starting with video resolution, video clips and live view (over Wi Fi) are in crisp, clear, high-quality 1080p HD video quality. This carries into its infrared night vision. Motion detection is especially good—something you definitely want in a security system—which monitors activity zones. Should the camera spot something, it lets you know on the Blink app. And if it’s someone you know, you can use two way talk to know you’re watching.

The Blink XT2 3 Camera System is also smart home friendly. Like with the AMICCOM Home Security Camera, you can arm and disarm your system, view motion clips, or order new batteries when its two year battery life is up through Amazon Alexa. This camera Blink has designed is full of surprises.

Design

Unlike the Ring Indoor Home Security Camera, the Blink XT2 Home Security Cameras are built for the outdoors and the indoors. This is thanks to their IP65-water resistance rating. Like the Ring Indoor Home Security Camera, the Blink XT2 3 Cameras are very small; in fact, if you position them in the corners of your home, away from line of sight, no one would notice them. And since they’re battery powered, you don’t have to wire anything into your home or plug them into an outlet. They’ll last for two years before you even have to worry about batteries.

Value

Moving into value, the Blink XT2 Cameras are bringing a lot to the table. Is it all worth it though? Definitely, especially the more indoor outdoor cameras you add. If you consider the 5 Blink XT2 outdoor camera kit, you’ll pay $57 per camera, which also includes the Blink Sync Module. Since every Blink indoor camera comes with the same features, the value skyrockets. It’s a better deal than, say, the HeimVision HM241 1080p.

What sweetens the deal further is getting free cloud storage. However, there’s an itty bitty catch: it isn’t actually free storage. For the first year, yes, but then you’ll have to pay monthly fees. On the bright side, you’ll have an entire year to consider.

Blink XT2 3 Camera System Wrap Up

We found very little wrong with the Blink XT2 3 Camera System. Before your first year of free cloud storage is up, you’ll get your money’s worth and then some, making the decision to buy a subscription an easy one. Having an indoor outdoor security system with 1080p resolution, night vision, IP65 water resistance, motion detection, and two way audio is hard to pass on for such a good deal.
