If you’ve never had a VPN provider before and are looking to test the waters to determine the best VPN for you, look no further than Spotflux. Its privacy policy is better organized than most of their rivals, and Spotflux makes a great effort to explain what you want to know which is perfect for the consumer who is looking for security but doesn’t know where to start or what it entails. That is one of the best VPN services out there.

Why We Like It – Sporflux

As far as the best free VPN providers come, you can’t really go wrong with Spotflux. The free version of Spotflux VPN outdoes most premium VPN services. Speaking of premium, Spotflux offers a premium version of their VPN software for a mere $4.99 per month, which makes it a seriously cheap VPN. So not only is it one of the best free VPN services, but it’s also one of the more affordable. But, always compare free VPNs with paid VPNs, as you might get more benefits from a paid service. Plus, with your VPN set up, you’ll also want to read our guide that explains what is cybersecurity.

Pros
  • Privacy Policy better organized than most rivals
  • User interface is clear and intuitive
  • 3-day trial for Premium Service
Cons
  • Few on-the-ground Server Locations
  • Third-Party ad-blocker sometimes required
  • Abysmal Customer Support

Performance

Speed tests for Spotflux have been reassuring. Download and upload speeds fell by a measly 7 percent compared to normal speeds, which is absolutely exceptional for a free VPN service. If you’re doing frequently downloading/uploading, you might want to look into a P2P VPN instead. But, with Spotflux, you can get fast and efficient private internet access while concealing your real IP address without spending a dime, that’s a pretty good deal. But while this performance was good overall, speeds did fall to unusable levels some of the time. It should be noted that Spotflux has very few on-the-ground server locations and is only supported in 10 countries. If you’re looking for a more robust VPN, Private Internet Access is always a good choice. It should also be noted that not all ads were removed when using Spotflux, so a third-party ad-blocker may be needed. For a VPN service with a truly impressive reach, open our PureVPN review.

Design

The user interface on Spotflux is clear and intuitive. A menu allows you to choose your server locations and it shows which protections are active. A small field displays the status of the app, such as obtaining IP addresses. If you are testing out the free version, Spotflux will display ads on the client-side while you are using it. However, because most of your VPN use is spent with the window running in the background, this isn’t a terrible price to have to pay. ExpressVPN is another service with a clear and intuitive display if or when you are ready to make the transition.

Value

On top of being free, Spotflux offers a premium service for just a meager price of $4.99 per month. It supports up to 5 devices and is available for mobile, Windows, and OSX. Of course, if you don’t need all that, Spotflux offers its standard free VPN service where you don’t have to pay even a penny per month. Although the privacy policy does try and explain things clearly, it isn’t entirely reassuring. Spotflux won’t keep lots of information, but will give them to the courts if ordered. It does not support bit-torrenting, much like VyprVPN, and reviews for customer support, as well as the support page on the website, were abysmal. Though the Spotflux VPN privacy policy and customer support aren’t 100% ideal and there isn’t a very diverse selection of server locations within different countries, you can’t beat the price of a free VPN service from one of the best VPN providers on the market today. Sporflux Wrap Up

It is difficult not to recommend a free VPN service. And considering there are only two, Spotflux is the clear winner. To get a full VPN experience, the next step beyond this Spotflux review is to check out a provider’s plans for its VPN software. If you’re looking to test out a free VPN that is user-friendly, go with Spotflux. You can even take the 3-day trial for a spin to see what a more complete VPN service would like. Spotflux Premium is also a steal at just $4.99. Plus, with the Spotflux Premium service plan, you won’t be subjected to any ads from third parties. But be warned, once you get used to it, you may begin to look for a VPN service with higher configurability and a wider selection of locations.
