If you’re in the business for the gaming gear to compliment your setup, then look no further than the SteelSeries Arctis Pro, equipped with a game DAC for audio tweaking. Its audio quality steps into surround sound, providing clear sounds, even for the lowest of whispers without drowning everything around you. And music sounds all more full than before. This is why the Arctis Pro is known to many as the best gaming headset because it will take your gaming experience to a whole new level.

Why We Like It –

The SteelSeries Arctis Pro wraps excellent sound quality, comfortable design, and a list of audio features, all packed into an expertly built wireless headset.

Pros
  • High quality audio
  • Comfortable on the ears and head
  • Plenty of options with DAC
Cons
  • Expensive

Performance

The audio performance is top notch, both in terms of gaming and music. Using Metallica’s “Anesthesia (Pulling Teeth)” as a reference, the bass was at optimal levels without being uncomfortable, or to its detriment. That hi-res audio also extends to gaming as well. While the Arctis Pro is an incredible headset, there are other great ones on the market, take a look at our Astro A30 Headset review to compare the two.

The SteelSeries Arctis Pro isn’t true surround sound, but it’s incredibly wide virtual surround sound does an excellent job of sucking you into an immersive experience, utilizing DTS Headphone X 2.0 to make it happen. Smaller sounds like the chirping of birds overhead are much more clearer, without drowning the bulk of the game’s audio. And you’ve got a solid 10 hours worth of battery life to hear it all. The SteelSeries Arctic Pro GameDac also makes a world of a difference in letting you utilize different audio outputs, like Optical Audio, USB, etc., to get that hi-res audio on more than one console, beyond just your Xbox One.

Design

This particular wireless gaming headset is unapologetically simple in design, shooting for an ergonomic shape over sharp angles and rigid shapes like the ASTRO Gaming A50 headset. In fact, the SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless changed very little in terms of design from previous Arctis headsets, specifically the Arctis 7.

Audio sound is fantastic, but wasted if you can’t wear the headset for too long; the SteelSeries Arctis Pro does not have this problem at all. The cushions are made with airweave, a very comfortable fabric that feels stiffer than plus velour, but softer than leather. It’s a fabric combination that feels good to wear—especially for long periods of time. An excellent option if you plan on combining it with Oculus Quest, or lounging in a Vertagear S-Line SL4000 gaming chair. Value

The SteelSeries Arctis Pro GameDac offers even more value by providing a list of various audio outputs such as Optical Audio, USB, Line Out, and even Mobile. The sound quality can bridge those various outputs, especially for gaming on consoles like the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. The versatile consistency of the SteelSeries Arctis Pro’s sound quality can be useful in different situations and helps it stand out from other wireless gaming headsets. Yes, it is expensive, and that’s its biggest weakness, but few gaming headsets aim to appease multiple audio outputs without dropping in quality. With the Arctis Pro and its DTS Headphone X 2.0 sound quality, the consistent immersion in quality virtual surround sound can significantly transform your gaming experience. And with the 10-hour battery life, you can experience impressive audio for hours nonstop. It’s one of the best in all worlds, not just the best gaming headset. Arctis headsets are some of the best gaming headsets on the market today, so despite the daunting price tags, their products are worth every penny.

Wrap Up

Considering the extensive audio options with the game DAC, amazing audio sound, even DTS surround sound and comfortable design, we can confidently recommend the SteelSeries Arctis Pro. Yes, it’s expensive, but that’s to be expected for a premium wireless gaming headset. Its hi-res audio is going to push the boundaries of immersion that much more when it rests comfortable on your head. Overall, the SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless is worth the money since you know you’ll be paying for long-lasting, convenient audio quality.
