The Razer Phone 2 boasts impressive specs, and for a phone dedicated to gaming performance, this should come as no surprise. This top-grade smartphone has comparable power to the Google Pixel 3 XL, a new and sleek glass back, and a much brighter screen. The Razer may even perform better than the phone found in our BlackBerry Bold 9930 review. All of this customized for gaming performance. If you’re looking for a new way to take your phone calls, maybe while you’re cleaning, take a look at the Renny smartphone ringer.

Why We Like It – Razer Phone 2

If you’re looking for a phone for optimized gaming performance, look no further than the Razer Phone 2. The new phone from Razer caters to gamers and wants to provide the best gaming experience possible. Despite being touted as a gaming phone, however, its powerful hardware makes it great for all-around use as well. It will definitely look good in the Monet Phone Wallet luxury phone case with grip and kickstand.

Performance

The dual front stereo speakers of the Razer Phone support Dolby Atmos and Dolby Digital 5.1. The 120HZ high refresh rate is great for optimized and un-optimized gameplay and even for screen swiping. This can be changed in settings to save battery life, which is important because the Razer Phone 2 has worse battery life than the original Razer Phone, though it can still make it through a day. The Samsung Galaxy A70’s battery life can satisfy you if battery life is your be all, end all. Under the hood reveals a Snapdragon 845 paired with 8GB of RAM and wireless charging.

Design

The Razer Phone 2 is bold and angular, like the first Razer Phone, and is comfortable to hold in both orientations. The Phone has a glass back and is sleeker than its all-metal ancestor from last year. The Chroma App lets you customize the Razer logo color from 16.8 million hue choices and three different states: breathing (shifts brightness up and down), static (keeps light on at one brightness) and cycle (a party mode which cycles through all colors). The camera app isn’t the greatest by today’s standards, and aficionados should look to the UmiDigiX Smartphone for a good one. Compare that to the including the 8-megapixel rear-facing camera, which is one of the best Blackberry Z10 features, .

Value

The value of the phone lies with Razer taking criticism and customer reviews to heart. The screen has been updated to 645 nits of brightness compared to the 300 nits of the original Razer. Razer wants to be the best gaming phone which explains decisions to appeal to mobile game fans. The huge price boost leads to belief that wireless charging and Chroma RGB are expensive features. The BLU G9 Pro is a great alternative for those on a budget. No headphone jack is also a let-down, but it does come with a 3.5mm-to-USB-C adapter in the box and a 24-bit DAC for enhanced audio quality, which is nice.

Razer Phone 2 Wrap Up

It’s easy to recommend the Razer Phone 2 to provide an optimal gaming experience. With plenty of power under the hood, a sleek and customizable design, and a pure focus on gaming, it’s almost easy to understand the price hike. The camera is slowing it down a little, but for a phone intended for gaming performance, it’s an easy concession to make.
