The Office Star Deluxe Mesh Back Drafting Chair, like many Office Star products, is an affordable chair aimed at undercutting similar, more expensive products. Though it has a few shortcomings (no armrests, poor customer service), its low price makes it a strong contender for one of the best drafting chairs on the market.

Why We Like It – Office Star Deluxe Mesh Back Drafting Chair

With an adjustable foot ring, pneumatic height adjustment, and an affordable price point, the Office Star Deluxe Mesh Back Drafting Chair is an appealing entry level office chair that ticks a lot of boxes.

Support

Support is adequate for the low price, but could be better; the chair lacks armrests, and has no option to add them through additional purchases. That said, it does have an integrated footrest, and both the back and seat are curved to better support your body. Overall, while it could be better, it provides decent support for the money. If armrests are a must, check out the Flash Furniture Mid-Back Black Mesh Ergonomic Drafting Chair; it goes for a similar price and has a similar feature set, but it also has inbuilt armrests.

Comfort

This chair provides a comfortable sitting experience thanks to its curved design and mesh back. The material is decent for extended durations of sitting, while the breathable mesh on the back helps make it more comfortable in hot rooms. The footrest is a bit wobbly, but it doesn’t impact using the chair much. For the price, you can’t really go wrong with it; it’s similar to its competition in its price bracket.

Adjustability

The Office Star Deluxe Mesh Back Drafting Chair ticks all of the major boxes; it has pneumatic seat height adjustment, an adjustable footrest, and a flexible back. There’s little else to ask for, save for armrests, but for the price point it’s forgivable.

Breathability

Thanks to a mesh back, the Office Star Deluxe Mesh Back Drafting Chair is reasonably breathable, though its seat is still made of fabric; if breathability is of utmost concern, you’ll want to turn your eyes to the Modway Veer Drafting Chair, which is all mesh. That said, for the price–and considering it has a mesh back–it’s not bad at all in the breathability department.

Value

For $94.99, it’s very hard to go wrong with the Office Star Deluxe Mesh Back Drafting Chair; it has a solid feature set for the price, all without skimping on anything major. When the Boss Office Products Ergonomic Works Drafting Chair is on discount, it’s marginally better value than this chair (and it has optional armrests), but when both are at their normal MSRP, Office Star’s offering is a much better buy, and it’s the chair to beat in the entry-level sector.

Office Star Deluxe Mesh Back Drafting Chair Wrap-up

This is the chair to get for your home office if you’re on a budget and don’t need armrests. It provides great value without skimping on anything major, and it holds up well against both similarly priced products and more expensive products thanks to its strong value. Some aspects could be better when being exceptionally nitpicky about what it offers, but all in all, it’s a surprisingly solid budget offering.
