The Drafting Chair Tall Office Chair is a mid-range offering from SmugChair, aiming to compete with higher-end office chairs at a lower price point. It brings a slew of attractive features to the market at a surprisingly low price, all without skimping on quality or any major features. SmugChair has a lot to prove, and it’s safe to say they’ve done just that here; there is exceptionally little wrong with this product. You can also see how it fares against the best office chair.

Why We Like It – Drafting Chair Tall Office Chair

The SmugChair Drafting Chair Tall Office Chair is a well-priced, well-designed drafting chair with an adjustable footrest, seat height adjustment, and an appealing mesh design, making it punch well above its weight. It’s one of the best drafting chairs in its price bracket, and it holds its own against higher priced options despite its mid-range price point.

Pros
  • Very well-priced
  • Mesh back
  • High adjustability
Cons
  • Creaks when tilted

Support

With a curved back designed to force a correct posture, a highly-adjustable footrest, and in-built armrests, the Drafting Chair Tall Office Chair nails it in the support department. It’s plain superior to the Boss Office Products Ergonomic Works Drafting Chair, which lacks armrests by default and has a lower range of motion on its footrest, all while costing a bit less (save for when Boss Office’s offering is on discount).

Comfort

Some may find the Drafting Chair Tall Office Chair uncomfortable thanks to the shape of its back, but it’s built with posture in mind; it ensures you won’t sit in an unhealthy way that risks causing back problems down the line, and it has a curved seat for comfortable extended sitting sessions. Furthermore, its footrest has a wide range of motion, meaning you’re very likely to be able to tailor the chair to your wants. It’s very similar to the Modway Veer Drafting Chair, all while offering a better footrest and coming in at half the cost; the only thing Modway’s offering does better is the adjustability and comfort of its armrests.

Adjustability

SmugChair nailed it in the adjustability department. The footrest and seat both have a wide height range, the chair has a solid swivel, and it tilts forwards and backwards, something the similarly-priced Flash Furniture Mid-Back Black Mesh Ergonomic Drafting Chair cannot claim. The only real feature this chair lacks are adjustable armrests, which is a forgivable omission when you consider both the chair’s price point and how high-quality the chair is.

Breathability

Breathability is another big win for the Drafting Chair Tall Office Chair; it employs a mesh back with a seat made of mesh cloth overlaid atop a sponge, ensuring high breathability in rooms with any airflow. There’s nothing to complain about on that front, SmugChair did a very good job here.

Value

Value is perhaps the single best point of this chair. It’s better than most if not all competitors in the same price point, and it holds its own against much pricier alternatives. Its armrests aren’t the best, but that’s a very easy thing to forgive when the rest of the chair is just as good as chairs two or three times the price. Since it’s sold on Amazon, you don’t even have to factor in shipping costs; it has free delivery, meaning the only additional cost is the tax.

Drafting Chair Tall Office Chair Wrap-up

There is exceptionally little wrong with the Drafting Chair Tall Office Chair. “It may creak when tilted” and “the armrests could be better” would be small complaints even for a $250 chair, let alone one that barely breaks past $120; its high quality and incredible value make it a very easy recommendation for budget buyers, and it should at the very least be a contender for people with more to spend.
