Stairs are difficult to vacuum whether carpeted or not. A robot vacuum is of no use on stairs, and if you use an upright it better be lightweight, cordless, and maneuverable. Better yet it should convert into a cordless handheld vacuum to make cleaning a long staircase doable.

The MOOSOO Cordless Vacuum Cleaner, a.k.a., the K17 cordless, is just such a vacuum cleaner, its cordless stick design and its appearance looking very much like the Dyson V11, however, the V11 is more of a premium offering (at a much higher premium price). The MOOSOO is representative of many new technology cordless stick vacuum cleaners that are more or less patterned after Dyson models. Other examples include the Tineco A11 and the Tineco Pure ONE S12.

When considering the MOOSOO Cordless Vacuum Cleaner be sure to consult GR’s Best Vacuum for Stairs buyer’s guide for comparisons of the best vacuums available. For more great household cleaning machines, check out this best vacuum cleaner list.

Why We Like It – MOOSOO Cordless Vacuum Cleaner

A cordless “stick vacuum” design that doubles as a handheld vacuum, the MOOSOO Cordless Vacuum Cleaner is perfect for vacuuming stairs, furniture, floors, cars, and wherever else. It has two speeds of powerful suction, a motorized and LED lighted brush head, and a 4-stage filtration system that eliminates virtually all dust.

Pros
  • LED illumination
  • Lightweight, ergonomic & quiet
  • High-efficiency 4-stage filter
Cons
  • Thoroughly cleaning bin requires filter removal
  • Filter replacement

Power

The MOOSOO Cordless Vacuum Cleaner is powered by a large 2200mAh lithium-ion battery that provides strong fade-free power for up to a claimed half hour depending upon which of 2-speed settings is being used (MOOSOO elects to use the more precise ‘milliAmp Hour’ specification whereas other makers often just quote battery voltage… btw the MOOSOO battery is 22V). The MOOSOO battery is detachable, and has an LED array to depict the remaining battery life. Unfortunately, the MOOSOO battery is designed such that it cannot be charged while it’s detached, which precludes using two batteries round-robin style–one charging while the other one is being used.

Suction power of the MOOSOO is on par with other cordless stick vacuums –claimed to be 23kPa at the highest of two speeds (measured in kiloPascal, one of two common ways vacuum makers rate suction power). For comparison, a Dibea F20 Max claims it produces 28kPa suction power, a slightly higher number but in reality probably not a noticeable difference…both have strong suction. Remember that all values, suction power, and battery running times, are manufacturer’s assertions. Real-world experience may vary. MOOSOO utilizes a 200W brushless motor (lasts longer than a regular DC motor) generating a whopping 50,000 RPMs for effective airflow.

Speed / Efficiency

A distinctive feature of the MOOSOO Cordless Vacuum Cleaner is its collapsible “stick” part, which is convenient for storage, convenient for usability in matching the length of the MOOSOO in upright mode to the height of the operator, and convenient in all kinds of other use cases… such as long staircases.

Another likable feature is that the motorized brush head of the MOOSOO K17 has LED lights to illuminate the floor area that you’re vacuuming. This is pretty cool because it makes seeing pet hair, dust, and debris on a hard floor or low pile carpet very easy. The MOOSOO has a 4-stage filtration system that claims to remove 99.99% of dust particles using a non-washable HEPA filter (filter must be replaced with a MOOSOO brand, a nominal expense but still a cost).

The MOOSOO airflow design is sealed which is another plus as far as conforming with HEPA filtration standards, but some users commented that the space between the bottom of the debris bin and the airflow funnel is too short, and that when it clogs suction is reduced. The K17 is ultra-quiet and ultra-lightweight (< 3lbs), and the motorized head has a swivel mount that’s handy for floor care letting you easily vacuum around and under furniture.

Unlike some other cordless stick vacuums, including the Shark Navigator FreeStyle upright stick cordless vacuum, the ‘trigger’ on the ergonomic handle of the K17 acts like a switch –pull the trigger to start, pull again to stop– and thus doesn’t have to be pulled and held continuously while using the vacuum. In addition to the spinning roller brush head, the MOOSOO vacuum comes with interchangeable attachment cleaning tips such as a crevice tool, and a bristle brush, as well as a useful little hook tool that’s intended to clear the hair that invariably gets wrapped around the motorized roller brush.

Bin Capacity / Maintenance

The MOOSOO Cordless Vacuum Cleaner features a 13.5 oz capacity bagless bin made of clear plastic so you can see the contents and empty it when it becomes full. Keeping the dirt bin from becoming too full is key to optimizing the performance of the vacuum, particularly since the bin capacity of the K17 cordless is comparatively small (many have a bin capacity over 20 oz.). The bin is easy to empty from the bottom, held in place and released by a simple clip, which seems a vulnerable single point of failure, however not reported as such in customer comments.

Thoroughly cleaning the upper section of the dirt bin canister may require removing the filter assembly, a slight hassle plus putting it back together is somewhat challenging. The entire bin is removable for washing. The MOOSOO comes with a wall-mount making storage easy (and the collapsible stick helps as well), and the wall mount has an integrated charger (you’ll need AC power nearby).

Durability

The MOOSOO Cordless Vacuum Cleaner is reasonably well built and made of durable materials. It’s not bomb-proof, so maybe not the right choice if you’re a professional house cleaner, but likely can be a good performing vacuum for most home or office settings. There is no apparent single point of failure or chronic problem based upon user comments.

A manufacturer’s warranty for the K17 cordless is somewhat vague, but it appears to be 12 months for all MOOSOO products (according to their website). MOOSOO customer support is very proactive, monitoring and replying to customer comments that are posted on various online e-commerce sites, and in their posts, users have also commented that MOOSOO was responsive to their reported issues.

Value

“Stick vacuum” cleaners are increasingly popular, combining the virtues of a handheld vacuum cleaner with a full-length tube (the stick part) sporting a motorized brush head at its end, they’re multi-functional as a cord-free upright or a cordless handheld.

The MOOSOO Cordless Vacuum Cleaner is a pretty good budget choice in this category, even more reasonably priced than some of the other stick vacuum cleaner “Dyson knock-offs” such as the Tineco Pure ONE S12, and certainly way fewer $ than a Dyson V11 (the best cordless vacuum leader in this category). If you only need a purely handheld vacuum (without the “stick”) then you might consider the Dirt Devil Quick Lite or the Black+Decker Max Flex as alternative solutions.

MOOSOO Cordless Vacuum Cleaner Wrap Up

The MOOSOO Cordless Vacuum Cleaner is yet another of several similar new technology cordless vacuums, all seemingly patterned after Dyson vacuum models, and is great for vacuuming hard floors and for general cleaning purposes, plus being very good for difficult to clean places such as stairs.
