Are you itching to experience off-road terrain with a mountain bike that can handle it? The Merax Mountain Bike is the best electric bike for the job. Equipped with thick, wide tires, a powerful motor, and long-lasting battery, you’ll be tearing up miles worth of dirt and rocks in no time.

Why We Like It – Merax Mountain Bike

Daring to enjoy the great outdoors, you’ll want to take a mountain bike that provides power, speed, and tires to boot—which is where the Merax Mountain Bike shines. For a road bike, read the Macwheel wrangler review.

Pros
  • Can be taken off-road
  • Great battery life
  • Powerful motor
Cons
  • Charging time is on the longer side

Performance

If you prefer the sounds of nature over the cramped spaces of the streets, the Merax Mountain Bike is not only the best mountain bike to tackle rough terrain, it’ll get you there fast with its 350W motor. This is because the motor is capable of pushing speeds of 20 miles per hour (32km). That kind of power translates well on rough terrain thanks to its wide 26-inch wheels. A similar bike with that speed is discussed in the Merax 26 electric mountain bike review.

To top it off, the battery is of good quality, lasting long enough to cover 28 miles of strange lands. However, the battery does take awhile to recharge. It can take between 6-8 hours; 1-3 hours longer than the Elby S1 9-Speed’s battery that handles three times as many miles.

Design

The Merax Mountain Bike features a very light, but strong aluminum frame that’s been heat treated. The suspension fork connected to the front wheel really handles impact and force well, making for a front suspension system that rocks on rough terrain (pun intended), unlike the SwagCycle Pro that can’t handle rough terrain at all. In order to handle this kind of power, mechanical disc brakes were installed to provide excellent stopping power.

With the battery removed, the bike looks like a Merax Finiss Mountain Bike, which by itself is already a great speed mountain bike to begin with. However, the rear derailleur is different, along with a few other small design details such as frame size; otherwise, not that different.

Value

The Merax Mountain Bike has a lot more value than immediately apparent. Having a powerful motor, great suspension system, long battery, and solid built quality is just the tip of the iceberg. That’s already a great value, but the bike insists on doing more.

The battery itself has overcharge protection, over release protection, charge control, temperature protection, overvoltage protection, and even battery theft-prevention by securing the battery with a key. There’s even a front headlight if you feel like taking it for a spin at night.

If this electric bike doesn’t offer enough power for your liking, consider the NAKTO Fat Tire.

Merax Mountain Bike Wrap Up

For someone who wants power in their electric mountain bikes, the Merax Mountain Bike has it all: a reliable dual disc brakes, an excellent front fork suspension system, a long battery life, and a motor that injects speed into your experience. With how well it handles off-road environments, it more than makes up for its lackluster charging time.
