How to Get a Free 4GB Xbox 360 Starting May 20th

Are you pining for an Xbox 360?  Can’t afford the 200 or so bones that are invovled to make it happen?  Well, good news.  Microsoft, despite parents cries for no more video games before your homework is finished, is offering any college student a 4GB Xbox 360 completely free.  The catch?  You just have to purchase a Windows PC worth $699 or more at a participating location starting May 20th.  But wait, before you run out the door, you probably want to know what retailers are invovled and what you’ll need to make this happen.

First off, you need a college student iD – sorry high schoolers.  Second, you’ll need to purchase the computer at one of these retailers:  Best Buy, Dell.com, Fry’s Electronics, HPDirect.com, Microsoft Stores, and NewEgg.com. In Canada, they include Best Buy, Dell.ca, Future Shop, Staples and The Source.

It’s conjecture, but they probably won’t hand you an Xbox 360 on the spot.  Instead, you’ll have to purchase it and then send in for a rebate, or at least that’s how we’d do it.  But then again, maybe they’re handing them out to every Tom, Dick and Harry that rolls through and buys a $700 Windows PC.
