An air purifier is a must-have, especially for people who tend to experience asthma attacks, or even those who are just generally very sensitive to dirty air. It’s something that you can get if you’re not quite comfortable with the air quality in your house, and is also something that’s key to have if you have a lot of pets in your living space and would want to get rid of their odor. Another device for odor removal would be the HoMedics TotalClean AP-T30. And, to rid the air of contaminants, you’ll want to get the Envion Ionic Pro.

Picking the best air purifier for you involves having a good idea of how large your space is, as well as the kind of cleaning system that it uses. The Germguardian AC4825E would be a good example to start with because it’s not as expensive, and is loaded with features that are sure to get the job done. Is it the best UV air purifier? Not quite, but it is reliable, and of good build quality.

Why We Like It – Germguardian AC4825E

The medium-sized Germguardian AC4825E air purifier is pretty much a decent unit that comes with a True Hepa filter, a UV light bulb and as well as an activated charcoal filter. The True Hepa air filter captures dust particles, pollen and even airborne bacteria to keep the air clean, and is very much energy efficient to keep your energy costs low.

Pros
  • 3 in 1 air filtering process
  • 3 fan speeds
  • Reduces odours thanks to activated carbon
Cons
  • No smart features

Power/Speed

The Germguardian AC4825E will efficiently serve an area or room size of up to 167 square feet, so it is best suited for smaller rooms. The air purifier features a 3-in-1 air cleaning process, where it incorporates 3 cleaning methods to purify your air. It’s got a pre-filter which combines with the activated carbon filter to get rid of large particle pollutants like dust pet dander mould and bad odours, a True HEPA filter to capture particles smaller than 0.3 microns in size, and a UV C light bulb to kill airborne bacteria. This system is pretty similar to what you’ll find with the Pure Enrichment PureZone Elite 4-in-1 air purifier, but what it has that the AC4825E lacks is an ionizer.

Efficiency

The AC4825E Germguardian air purifier is very efficient in terms of energy consumption, and this is depicted through its energy star rating. Its CADR to watt ratio is pretty good, and to make it consume even less energy, you can even choose to have it run on the lowest fan speed. Its UV-C light bulb is also very energy efficient, and if you choose to run the UV light only, you’ll end up significantly reducing your energy costs.

Versatility

The use of a HEPA filter, an activated charcoal filter, and UV light is as versatile as the GermGuardian AC4825E will get. The only thing that it’s missing that more expensive options such as the Silveronyx Air Purifier have is an ionizer. Other than that, the filter has pretty much the same functionality, and can deliver this at a much more reasonable price.

Durability

Covered by a 3-year warranty, the Germguardian AC4825E doesn’t really match up to the 5-year warranty that you’ll get with the pure enrichment pure zone air purifier, but it’s still pretty much a worthwhile investment.

Value

Retailing at under $100, the Germguardian AC4825E represents good value for your money, and is of pretty good build quality. It’s also well designed, but the lack of smart features like air quality detection might deem it unfit for use by some people. You will have to replace the filters after about 4-6 months of use, and to do so, you’ll need to go for the filter B replacement and the carbon pre-filter pack. They’re also both available on Amazon.
