Performance
The GermGuardian Air Purifier offers a three-stage filtration system. The first layer, the pre-filter, and activated carbon filter, catches all the large particles like smoke and pet dander. Second, the air goes through the true HEPA Filter and catches smaller particles like mold spores. Last, the UV C Light kills any airborne bacteria that cause sickness or allergies. Design
The GermGuardian Air Cleaning System’s controls, including the fan speed settings, are located at the top of the unit. Note that, because of the UV Light, filter replacement will not be limited to HEPA filters, but UV C filter replacement too. If you review GermGuardian AC4825’s dual-filter needs and decide it’s not for you, consider the KOIOS Upgraded Purifier Filtration Purifier White as a healthy replacement. Finally, the GermGuardian is about 22” in height and weighs around seven pounds. Not the smallest or lightest, but still portable enough to bring anywhere.
Value
The GermGuardian Air Filtration system provides medium-sized rooms with a good amount of cleaning, as the Envion Therapure does. It’s rated for a room size of 167 square feet, which is the largest we’ve seen thus far. The noise level isn’t particularly high, but still the highest among other air purifiers in its class. At the lowest setting, it still reaches about 40 dB. Consider the GermGuardian GG1000 Pluggable Deodorizer Guardian if you want something quieter and, as a bonus, smaller. It retails for $120.00, which is a little steep, but gives you superior room coverage and air quality.
