Bombarded by pollen, pet dander, dust, mold, and—worst of all—smoke? Will an air purifier work for all these contaminants? Air purifiers are excellent for improving air quality, but to tackle particles as small as 0.3 microns, like the ones listed, you need a true HEPA filter. In that case, the best air purifier under 100 has to be the Levoit LV-H132. But will it be among the best air purifiers?

Why We Like It – Levoit LV-H132

If smoke, pollen, and pet dander are constant threats to your internal systems, this air purifier has a 3-stage filtration system with an activated carbon filter to combat particles as small as 0.3 microns.

Pros
  • 3-stage filtration system w/ activated carbon filter
  • Captures particles as small as 0.3 microns
  • Small, compact; ideal in a small room
Cons
  • Smaller area of effect
  • Filters need changing frequently

Performance

How does the Levoit Air Purifier LV-H132 do it? By using a 3-stage filtration system, just like the Levoit LV-H128 does, the air purifier can capture particles as small as 0.3 microns. Its pre-filter system starts attacking dust, pet dander, mold, and fungi, then moves on to the HEPA filter and activated carbon filter to further purify the air and leave it pollutant-ozone free up to an 87-square foot area. But, the Honeywell True Allergen Remover can cover over 400 sq. ft.

Just like the Levoit Core P350, it’s a bit on the smaller size; the GermGuardian AC4825 doubles the area of the effect. If you’d love an air purifier with a 360-degree effect then you should take a look at our Levoit Core 300 review.

Design

Similar to the Levoit LV-PUR131S, the Levoit LV-H132 isn’t the smallest air filter on our list and is comparable to the KOIOS Upgraded Purifier. Using the air purifier is straightforward, as all the buttons you need are located along the time, like speed settings—there are three, and all have low white noise. One feature to consider is the night light. It’s a nice little bonus that adds a small amount of comfort to your child if this filter is housed in their room. If you have larger rooms then you may want to read through our Levoit Air Purifier for Large Room review.

The biggest gripe we had was with air filter replacements. It comes with a pre-installed filter, but after about 3 months, you’ll replace it. That’s far too often, in our opinion.

Value

Similar to the Molekule Air Mini, the Compact Air Purifier Levoit LV H132 really kicks butt. Levoit did exactly what they wanted: a budget air cleaner that performs well. It isn’t the most powerful, but it’s so easy on your wallet to experience what true HEPA filtration is like, albeit in a smaller area of effect. If you still want that true HEPA filtration, but in a much smaller capsule, then the Pluggable Air Purifier and Sanitizer could be a better option, at the cost of performance; otherwise the Levoit LV H132 Air Purifier is the way to go.

Levoit LV-H132 Wrap Up

To conclude our Levoit LV H132 review, the Levoit LV-H132 best serves smaller rooms where its smaller area of effect isn’t a problem. Even with such a focused area of effect, it’s still one of the few budget air purifiers with a true HEPA filter that tackles particles as small as 0.3 microns—but only if you can deal with changing filters every few months.
