Picking the Best Air Purifier for versatility often leads to the machine lagging in other areas, but that doesn’t seem to be the case with the Alen Breathesmart Classic Large Room Air Purifier. It covers 1100 square feet quite efficiently, a sign you might have the best air purifier for mold and the best large room air purifier wrapped into one. It’s a big step up from the Airdog FitAir portable air purifier. So let’s examine the entire package!

Why We Like It – Alen Breathesmart Classic Large Room Air Purifier

The Alen Breathesmart Classic large Room Air Purifier combines a True HEPA filter, activated carbon filter, and a pre-filter with your choice of four specialized filters for a more unique approach to pure air filtration.

Pros
  • Performance is great for large rooms
  • Auto Mode changes fan speeds automatically
  • Relatively low noise levels
Cons
  • Replacement filters can be expensive

Power & Speed

Unlike other air purifiers, the Alen Breathesmart Classic is entirely automatic with its fan speeds, rather than manually. It senses the air quality around you and adjusts accordingly for a relaxed, hands-off experience. At the highest speeds, it can reach CFM as high as 300. However, unlike the Medify Air, it doesn’t distribute the air 360 degrees, which could come in handy if you want the best whole-house air purifier or the best air purifier for pets.

Efficiency

That kind of power and speed might not sound ideal, but the Alen Breathesmart Classic opts for better airflow rather than relying solely on fan speed. Placed in the right position, it can cover a room the size of 1100 square feet. Compared to the Oransi Max HEPA Air Purifier, that’s nearly twice as much coverage.

Versatility

The Alen Breathesmart Classic can target specific particles and odors you’d like to address, in addition to its True HEPA air filter and pre-filter. If you live with animals, you’ll be more interested in the HEPA Pure filter, capturing dust pollen, pet dander, and pet hair. The HEPA Silver filter targets dust, mold, mildew, and bacteria; HEPA Fresh Plus target VOCs; and HEPA Odorcell captures odors from wet dogs, litter fumes, and even a teenager’s room. Despite your choices, you’re always getting clean air in return.

Durability

These Alen air purifiers opt for tall and slender, rather than short and bulky. It measures 10 x 17.75 x 26.75 inches and weighs 21 lbs. That’s not exactly light, but still speaks to its level of durability. It ultimately helps store, move, and position this HEPA air purifier Alen has designed. This model is relatively quiet but you should check out the Alen BreatheSmart if you want something that’s more silent.

Value

On one hand, the Breathesmart air purifier is a great machine to have—especially if your ultimate goal is for large areas of at-home air quality to be improved. It is not as compact and attractive as the Alen BreatheSmart Flex air purifier but it sure works great. Unfortunately, it’s a heavy investment, considering replacement filters are expensive, though still cheaper than the Coway Airmega 400, but the Coway is also nearly $200 cheaper and covers more area.

Alen Breathesmart Classic large Room Air Purifier Wrap Up

With the addition of a True HEPA filter, the Alen Breathesmart Classic Large Room Air Purifier knocked out its biggest flaw. Sure, replacement filters cost a pretty penny, but the pre-filter does wonders in keeping filter life lasting longer. It covers large areas with ease and its hands-off approach of automatically adjusting fan speeds is a nice touch.
