How We Decided
We preferred headboards that are made with high-quality, durable hardwood, extra-durable light woods, synthetics, and stainless steel. We liked models that are easy to assemble, preferably by one person, and with dimensions no bigger than 64” high and 54” wide at maximum adjusted height, with a thickness of no more than 3.5”.
We also favored headboards designed in a range of upholstered headboard styles and wood designs, especially tufted headboards with nailhead trims, that can be fit onto both metal and wood frames and are no heavier than 68 pounds for added ease of installation and versatility. We favored models with both mountable legs so you can attach it to the bed and wall-mounting systems.
Finally, we liked headboards that, if upholstered, are made with linen or synthetic linen-like, hypoallergenic, non-toxic materials that are easy and inexpensive to clean. We also liked headboards with easily adjustable heights in small increments. We generally avoided all-metal headboards and upholstered linen headboards.
