If you’ve been looking for a standing desk but your tastes run toward the minimalistic, the practical, and the traditional, then Artifox has exactly what you are looking for. The woodcrafting company’s new product line includes several beautiful wood standing desks designed specifically for artists and craftsmen in today’s modern workspaces.

These best sit to stand desks for artists have style and flair.

At first glance, the desk looks just like any other artist’s standing desk, at home in the study, drafting room or office from now to 200 years ago. There’s a surface, four legs, options for leg adjustment and pegs for hanging your bags…that’s about it. But a closer look yields quite a few improvements, including plenty of nods to the modern office space.

One side of the standing desk is a writable surface available in white or black for jotting all sorts of notes (with marker instead of the slightly-too-traditional chalk). Hidden underneath the surface is a storage cabinet ideal for hiding a power strip, cords, hard drives and anything else you need. Down the legs are magnetic clasps for guiding and gather cords in a neat bundle so that nothing droops or tangles.

The Artifox standing desk also has built-in docking for your mobile devices (that’s why the power strip shelf comes in handy) with enough room for a smartphone and tablet, also made out of wood.

The desk comes in both maple and walnut, with prices ranging from $1,800 to $2,000 depending on materials, aluminum extras, and more. That’s a little pricey for a top standing desk (see Gadget Review picks) without any digital parts – there’s no buttons to adjust the legs, no saved settings, etc. – but you are paying extra for style.
