5-0 Radio Police Scanner App Sounds Too Good To Be Real, Let's You Monitor Police Communication

The best home scanner normally scans documents, but this is more fun. Sorry, but we’re gonna have to throw in the skepticism towel on this one.  The app, 5-0 Radio Police Scanner, is said to offer access to live police, fire and EMT radio communications.  While we don’t have any technical jargon or credibility when it comes to monitoring airwaves we were always led to believe it was an illegal activity, at least according to the movies from the 80s.  Perhaps the feeds are of the more benign type? If you’re looking for another app you’ll love for the smartphone, check out our review of the Moosejaw X-Ray app.

Nonethless, the app is jam packed with features and info. If you also need to keep up with your weather needs, you need to also check out some of the best free weather apps Android. You can gain access to a variety of other radio communique, look up short codes (187=murder) and communicate via live chat with other 5-0 Radio app users.

There is a free (light) and paid version that costs $1.99.  What’s the difference between the two?  We don’t know and it isn’t made evident on the product page.
