The Tenda AC6 performs just as well as any high-end router like Google Netgear for a much more affordable price. It may not have the same amount of coverage or download speeds, but this difference ranges from miniscule to barely noticeable. Why We Like It – Tenda AC6

The Tenda AC6 takes what’s great about most high-end routers, like beamforming technology, ARM chips, 20 device support, coverage, and download speeds and packages it into an affordable device that’s perfect for a single person, a newbie, or a family’s aging wifi system. Whatever the case, the AC6 should have you covered.

Pros
  • Maintains consistent connections
  • Clean and organized user interface
  • Affordable
Cons
  • Looks like an eyesore
  • Only offers 2,000 square feet of coverage
  • Poor customer service

Performance

The Tenda AC6 Router features advanced beamforming technology, standard with the fifth-generation 802.11ac, which allows it to tailor its wi-fi signal to each individual connection according to the device’s location. It’s able to hold better and more consistent connections this way in comparison to other routers. Not bad for a budget wifi router. The four antennas ensure there is always a connection and it can support up to 20 devices, but please try the Netgear Orbi RBK23 if you want to support more than 20 devices.

Design

The Tenda AC6 Wi-Fi Router offers a clean and organized user interface. Set-up is easy, and the smartphone app can be installed to configure even more settings on your Tenda AC6. Using the app you can also adjust settings remotely, away from home, set a wifi schedule, a sleep timer, configure a VPN server, and even enable parental controls. Unfortunately, the unit does look like an eyesore, and it’s pretty inflexible when it comes to the antennas. Try the Eero Pro Wifi System if you want something that will save space and is easy on the eyes.

Value

Tenda AC6 retails on Amazon for $37.00 which is an extremely affordable price. Despite its low price tag, the AC6 dual-band router offers the same high-end ARM chip found in much more expensive top-tier routers. It offers 2,000 square feet of coverage, which isn’t the best but is still quite good, and 1,167 Mbps. Be aware, though, that customer service has been known to be poor. Try the TP-Link Deco, which also includes two-year warranty and 24/7 technical support, if you know you will be calling customer service a lot.

Tenda AC6 Wrap Up

It’s unfortunate that the customer support for Tenda is rated as bad as it is. Word of mouth is integral nowadays to gaining new customers and keeping existing ones. Still, the fact that Tenda can almost match what other, higher-end companies are doing and keep their price as low as it is is something to be impressed by.
