Coming in as an upgrade to the original Bullets Wireless, the OnePlus Bullets Wireless 2 is a set of wireless headphones that come as a companion to the manufacturer’s flagship OnePlus phone. The new headphones come with a bunch of new additions and also have their sound quality bumped up to a new level.

For other high-quality headphones, check out our Cambridge Audio Melomania 1 review, JVC HA-NCX78 multi-noise-canceling earbuds review, Sennheiser cx sport review, and Yurbuds Limited Edition focus sport earphones review.

In terms of battery life, the new pair gives almost double the amount of playtime that the original pair, at 14.23 hours of playback compared to the 7.16 that you get with the old ones. The new wireless headphones are also a bit more expensive than the old ones, and for good reason too. Let’s delve into some of the reasons why over this review, as we seek to establish whether the OnePlus Bullets Wireless 2 should get a spot on our best earbuds list.

Why We Like It – Oneplus Bullets Wireless 2

The OnePlus Bullets Wireless 2 earphones are true wireless earbuds that have got significant upgrades from their predecessor, and with a 14-hour playback time, it’s got one of the longest battery lives you can get on a wireless set.

Performance

The new OnePlus Bullets Wireless 2 headphones come with a three-unit driver array beneath each nozzle, which means better quality sound compared to the single dynamic driver that’s found on its predecessor, as well as on the Shure SE215. A dual-driver balanced armature housing and a 10mm dynamic driver can be found in each earpiece, which results in hi-fi sound. The wireless earbuds also boast support for the APTX HD audio codec, which is basically a format that supports “better-than-CD” audio quality. When used for phone calls, the integrated mic does a great job, as it produces an audible sound that sounds very natural.

Design

Designwise, the OnePlus Bullets Wireless 2 doesn’t stand up to the good looks you get with the Sennheiser Momentum In-Ear earphones, but they do come with three pairs of ear tips so that you’re able to choose the ones that fit the best and feel the most comfortable. Also, its earpiece covers are made out of semi-gloss finished steel, which is different from the original OnePlus bullets that had aluminum earpiece covers. When wearing it around your neck, the wireless headphones feel quite light, and they won’t get in your way when you’re doing any sort of fast movements.

Value

One nifty little feature that you get with both the Original Bullets Wireless earbuds and the new OnePlus Wireless headphones is that the earpieces are both magnetized, and when you clip them together they turn off, but when separated they turn on. This is done in a bid to omit the power button, and we think it’s a clever little workaround. The true wireless earphones also allow for quick charging, where a short 10-minute charge gets you around 10 hours of playtime, which is very impressive and difficult to find in other earphones such as the Bose QuietComfort 20.

Oneplus Bullets Wireless 2 Wrap Up

The OnePlus Bullets Wireless 2 earbuds offer a decent improvement compared to what its predecessor has in store, and we think its new features make the upgrade worthwhile. If you still have your doubts about its value, then perhaps a look at the positive reviews it’s got on Amazon might lead to a change of heart.
