While Jaybird may be known as sports headphones designed for enthusiasts ever since they broke into the market years ago you would be wrong not to consider them if you’re looking for the best earbuds. Taking many design cues from their Jaybird Bluebuds X predecessor, they are an exceptional pair of headphones for just about anyone. If you need a way to transfer your audio from your computer to your phone or iPod, you’ll also be interested in our Cambridge Audio DacMagic XS review.

Why We Like It – Jaybird X2

If you’re looking for a set of hassle-free in-ear headphones, the Jaybird X2 is a good choice. Although, the V-MODA ZN and the RHA T20i are good options, too. These headphones are wireless, have Bluetooth, and offer superior sound quality compared to many of their competitors. Their reputation as sports headphones may still stand, but they are just fantastic headphones all-around. With these Bluetooth headphones, you can’t go wrong reading our review of the SYIRE iPod Nano watch case too.

Pros
  • Excellent Sound Quality
  • New foam tips offer a good fit
  • Nice Bluetooth Assistant
Cons
  • Standard Bluetooth Range
  • Ear Fins a Hassle to Install
  • No Lifetime Warranty

Performance

The battery life on the Jaybird X2 Headphones is advertised to be about 8 hours. But you should be able to squeeze out a good 10 hours of on and off use which is above industry standard. The Bluetooth audio is high quality, as is the overall sound quality, and delivers an industry-standard wireless Bluetooth range (about 30 feet or so). The bass is accurate and mids and high are clear and even add a bit of warmth to your music. If you’re looking for the same sound quality at a slightly lesser price, consider the Sennheiser Momentum In-Ear.

Design

The Jaybird X2 is similar in design to its father, the Bluebuds X. One improvement over the Jaybird Bluebuds is the Comply foam tips which offer better noise isolation and a comfortable fit. The three ear fins, included in the box, can be a hassle to install, though. Some may say these wireless headphones are too big. But sacrificing size for performance, which the Jaybird wireless Bluetooth headphones have, more than makes up for it. The Shure SE215  and the Sennheiser CX Sport are also a little bulky, like the Jaybird X2, but offer great sound quality, proving that sometimes good things come in big packages. Just like the Motorola VerveOnes True wireless earbuds, which are very tiny.

Value

As a nice little bonus that will leave a lasting impression, the wireless assistant is one of the most pleasant you will encounter in Bluetooth headphones. In the box, you will find six ear tips, three ear fins, the newly added foam tips, and the silicone case which matches your desired color scheme. If you’re looking for something a bit simpler but still outstanding, the Bose QuietComfort 20 is becoming industry-standard. Jaybird offers a 30-day money-back guarantee on all their products including the X2 headphones, but no lifetime warranty.

Jaybird X2 Wrap Up

You don’t have to be a sports enthusiast to appreciate what the Jaybird X2 brings to the table. They may not be the smallest headphones on the market, but that is a sacrifice you must make for exceptional sound quality, a fantastic fit thanks to the memory foam (it always seems people underestimate how good well-fitting headphones are), and, funny enough, one of the most pleasing voice assistants you will ever encounter.
